Cliff Lee had one great year. Before that, nothing. Even this year he's been subpar. Guy was demoted to the minors in 2007. (i think it was 07)

Lee does not = Halladay. Thank the Lord Halladay is still a Jay (for now )

Man, now the Pirates have NO drawing power AGAIN!

At least it was fun to go see decent players like Jumpin' Jack and Clubby, but now there's really only the park to go see, and I've been there enough.



I'm sick and fucking tired of "building for the future." How about instead of worrying about the farm system, we try making the PIRATES good.

More than just one good year. He won 18 games in 2005. He had a strained abdomen in '07 which caused him to fall off.

And if your team is hitting a lot, then you are spending too much time on the bench and have to find ways to stay loose. Sorry, I don't think they have anything to do with each other

I wouldn't if I were you. Pitching doesn't really seem to be your problem. The Red Sox pitching is kinda like the Yankees pitching it's got some problems, but it's not the reason for this. Your problem is offense. So Instead of Halladay you should try to consider getting V-Mart or Adrian Gonzales instead. They are really gonna help you more if you ask me, because pitching is not the Red Sox problem.

I cant believe the Phillies got Lee without giving any of there top prospects. If they really want to go for the killshot, do the deal with Toronto for Drebek and a few other good ones. They wont be beat.

One things for sure. If the Red Sox step in and steal Halladay, no one is beating them this year. Not with Beckett and Halladay opening games 1 and 2. Then totally getting mindfucked by a Wakefield start after facing those guys.

And you know the Sox are trying to swing a deal.

Pitching has been a problem for the Sox. Penny and Smoltz have been awful. Wakefield is hurt, Dice-K is hurt and being a whiny bitch. Beckett and Lester have been the only consistent pitchers.

Still, though, I'd rather them use the prospects to get Gonzalez or Martinez due to them being able to control them for a longer period of time than Halladay.

Pitching really wasn't a problem a week ago though. The staff has been good, and deep. Up until this week many considered it the best staff in baseball.

I agree that it's shaky right now though. Everything has been a problem in the past 2 weeks.
Red Sox need a kick in the ass right now, because they're a better team than this.

The next 2 weeks are huge. Series against the Yanks, Rays, and Rangers, who are all compettitors for a playoff berth.
Series with the Tigers too, which isn't a playoff rival but a damn good team.

I disagree. I think they'll make the NLCS. I think the Cardinals have a shot at beating the Phillies. They might be a better team.

Either way, I don't think the Phillies will repeat since I don't see them beating the AL Champions again.
