lol the wrong guy got ejected from Wrigley. Watching the video you can clearly see someone else threw the cup. The fans in that area must be douches cause they didn't stick up for him and point out the actual guy...must have been a case of nobody seeing.

And the only Phillies fan in the bleachers threw a peanut on the guy on the way down the stairs.

Red Sox are trying to reaquire Alex Gonzalez from the Reds. Gonzalez hasn't shown much of anything since his knee injury that made him miss all of 08, but maybe getting put back on a contender will give him the spark he needs.

Great game from Parnell today in his second big league start. I'd really love to see him pitch well the rest of the year, it'd help him state his case for the 2010 rotation.

Mets made some nice changes to Citi Field, hanging up famous Mets images around the park (which was sorely lacking through the first few months) as well as moving the championship banners out to left field rather than hiding them near the gate of the least-used entrance into the park.

Only thing I don't like is they were asked point blank if Mike Piazza's number is going to be retired and they said there are no immediate plans. Not really sure why, he's the best hitter they've ever had...it speaks volumes that they had him catch Seaver for the last pitch at Shea and the first pitch at Citi. They'll probably wait until the HoF, which he'll make providing he doesn't wind up on the steroid shitlist in the next few years.

I wouldn't be suprised if the Mets holding out until the steroid thing blows over and he's hopefully not implicated. I'm not saying he took steroids. I hope he didn't but everyone from that era is under the microscope, especiallly a beast like him.
I'm sure the Mets would rather avoid the fiasco

Aaaaand David Wright is on the disabled list with post concussion syndrome. Wright felt he'd be good to play in a couple of days but with the Mets out of playoff contention, they learned their lesson from the Ryan Church fiasco last year.

Their disabled list now consists of:

Carlos Beltran
Carlos Delgado
John Maine
Fernando Martinez
Ramon Martinez
Jonathon Niese
Fernando Nieve
J.J. Putz
Jose Reyes
Billy Wagner
David Wright

All 4 core guys in their lineup on the DL at once, 3 of whom are probably in the top 20 or so in the game. If I had known that would happen heading into the season I would have lost all expectations.

Kuroda takes a liner on the head while on the hill and wearing a cap and he's peachy keen, Wright is at the plate and wearing a helmet and goes to the DL.

The medical staff has been terrible at injury evaluation this year, but I agree with this one. After the Ryan Church debacle there's no real reason to risk Wright feeling woozy even when he thinks he can play. If they were still in the hunt they'd probably let him play, but at this point it's not worth it.

They are also talking about shutting Santana down once he gets to around 190-200 innings. He threw more innings than he ever has last year, no point in having him throw that many this year in meaningless games.
