Danileson wrestles a lot like William Regal, technically smooth yet hard hitting. He uses lot of european uppercuts as well as grinding in some of those submission moves. He walks around the ring like he's above it all in the ring supremely confident with that aura of smugness... Hell Danielson's maroon trunks are the same style that Regal used to wear in WCW. No wonder he reminds people or Regal.

I know you do. You can tell when Danielson was first learning he emulated Regal. He does so much like Regal some of it might not even be on purpose. His grinding submission style is a decision Danielson made when he started out, but along the way he probably just picked up the subtle demeanor.

It's like my friend who's in a band. He emulated Kurt Cobain. The way he sang was like Kurt Cobain and the type of music he played was like Nirvana or bands that Cobain loved. He emulated him so much that even the way he approaches a microphone is similar to Cobain.

I totally get what you meant. Danielson is like Regal with some of the theatrics of Shawn Michaels.

What's Ultimo Dragon doing these days? His Wikipedia page doesn't list him as retired. And hell, it still has Joey Mercury listed as retired. To be honest, I would mark out fucking hard if Dragon showed up on SmackDown!. He's apparently 43, and has no doubt been slowed by injuries, but the WWE style is slower anyway. Some guys who work the same style go longer. He's been gone for so long that his last run in the WWE would largely be forgotten. They can hype him as a hero to both Japanese and Spanish-speaking fans.

Part of me just really wants to hear Matt Striker call an Ultimo Dragon match.

If Danielson does pick up the personality of a "superstar", and gets over with the crowd, I see good things coming. He's obviously got the company man part down. He's being humble, despite being an "indy sensation" and I think that'll take him far.

Sounds like he "gets it."

I think things are going to work out for him, I really do. He can fill a niche that a guy like Benoit once did.
I think it's more likely that he'll see success like CM Punk, than it is that he gets "misused...", just from the sound of how high on him everyone within the company is, and his attitude.

Always good to see indy guys "get it" and realize how the industry works, rather than thinkk they're above everything like Paul London

I've actually avoided spoilers for WWE NXT, so I am pretty excited. I LOVE the theory behind this. If being paired with guys like Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Matt Hardy and R-Truth can't get you over -- then you're fucked. Plus, there is a level of commitment attached to these guys, who pretty much have to get four months of attention and development or so. Plus, there are some guys in there like William Regal, who may not be generally accepted by marks as the greatest ever, but can teach you how to get heat, and little things to up your game. That is exactly that something a hoss like Skip Sheffield could really use.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Danielson just sends off the same aura as Regal these days. It's probably not even conscious anymore.
