According to early sales numbers from Nintendo, the digital version of New Super Mario Bros 2 managed to contribute to only about 5% of the game's total sales so far.

While the numbers are low, Nintendo states they are still happy with their experiment and still plan to provide more games having digital copies in the future for the 3DS.

A potential big reason for the lack of sales in Europe was due to GAME and a few retailers having discounts when the game was released which made the digital version more expensive but the same wasn't true in the US or Japan regions.

It should be considering the web page has no restrictions and a quick google check says its been confirmed to be in-store as well. Just have to make sure the clerk is aware when the purchase is being made so the game gets the discount.

Also, had trouble seeing the 3D proper in the game. Could see it on the 3DS menus fine, and in the 3D camera, but Pilotwings? Turned that shit down almost immediately.

Nintendo is having another "Buy Digital, Get a Freebie" type promotion with this time giving away the original arcade version of Donkey Kong (includes cement level cut from home ports) from the 3DS Virtual Console as the incentive for buying a digital version of any 3DS game in this list.

While Scribblenaughts Wii U version is getting Mario and Zelda series characters, it turns out the reason they got left out for the 3DS version was due to timing. 3DS version was finished before the Wii U version and the idea for those characters occurred during the period the carts were being mass produced for the game.

Capcom announces Ace Attorney 5 for the 3DS will be the first game in the series to feature voice acting although it will lose the series special sound effects as a trade-off.

New Nintendo Direct shows off a bunch of Nintendo games with the big ones being details on Animal Crossing which got a new sub-name of "New Leaf" and previously Japan-only Fire Emblem's US release.

Treasure Games announce they are working on an exclusive game for the 3DS but it won't be a shmpp and instead an action game.

New Super Mario Bros 2 on the 3DS is getting special free DLC from now until January 31, 2013.

The DLC is a series of Coin Rush level packs based on classic SMB 1 and SMB 3 levels.

According to some leaks, the special edition Fire Eblem 3DS that was previously a Japan exclusive might be arriving in the US once the game itself is released. The game itself is expected to be pre-installed on the device like previous games that got special bundles.

For those interested in Etrian Odyssey IV, Atlus announces all progress and stats gained in the demo which releases on February 7 will carry over to the full game when its released on February 26. Also announced are pre-orders for the game will get an art book and soundtrack CD as a gift.

Updates for both Luigi's Mansion 2 and Castlevania: Mirror of Fate.

Luigi's Mansion has been confirmed to have multiplayer in the form of 4-player co-op called "ScareScraper." No details on if its only local or also online.

A local auction has a black 3DS still in the box up for auction starting at £80. Seems like a good deal. As usual, something like this comes along when I don't have the money to spare .

Still think E3 will be when they reveal a redesigned model with a second stick, though.

Nintendo announces they are going to take a more active approach when it comes to making usually Japan-only games be more available worldwide.

First step is to help out any Japanese developer who is making a 3DS and wants to release it worldwide and can't either because of money or other reasons.

Errors in regards to shipping have lead to several places and retailers to delay the release of Fire Emblem: Awakening by a few days with several Best Buy, Gamestop, and Amazon locations affected the most. Walmart and a few other retailers were not affected.

Upcoming free 3DS game promotion involves buying both a 3DS XL and either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or Luigi’s Mansion 2 between March 24 to April 30.

After buying both the XL and either game, the next step is to register both on Club Nintendo in order to be eligible to get a free digital 3DS on the eshop. Both games have to be registered by April 30th.
