Lock Jaw's Fantastic Reviews, Week Two!
Greetings to you, the bookers! Welcome to this week's review from Judge Lock Jaw! Five shows, each with their own merits! But how do they stack against each other when going head to head? Find out using Judge Lock Jaw's unique judging system! For the purposes of judging, I will be placing each show side by side, as if they were on at the same time. I will be giving out points. 3 for what the causal fan would watch (assuming they have no brand loyalty and are just switching between all shows like me), 2 for what I would watch, and 1 for what I would first watch on youtube the next day. I'll also give a bonus .5 points for one of the other feds, just because I can. So, without further ado... (under spoilers just to keep it more concise) Opening Segments SPOILER: show Section #1 SPOILER: show Section #2 SPOILER: show Section #3 SPOILER: show Main Events: SPOILER: show Final Tally SPOILER: show The Buzz SPOILER: show |

I'm just wondering after all the shows are out if the series will be graded as a whole? I'd like to know who developed the most balanced and well-paced angles in the opinions of TPPW.

DWW Booker here to explain a few things:
British Tigers are made up of former Global Elite stable mates Rob Terry and Brutus Magnus. Both are from TNA. I didn't stick them together just because they're both British. MVP and JTG were put together because of their common race, and criminal pasts. Also both from the same company. Rey Mysterio is not my #1 baby-face, he's top 5 though. I also don't consider his defeat and injury at the hands of Miz a "clean" win. The Burning Hammer is a move that has legitimately broken many necks throughout the sport. Kayfabe-wise it's extremely dangerous. Rey Mysterio was down and instead of going for the win, The Miz attempted to end his career. The Miz is not unstoppable like Brock Lesnar, he's just very motivated and extremely tricky. He has managed to hold onto the title for the majority of the life of DWW and doesn't have plans on losing it to some goody-goody like Evan Bourne, a psychopathic garbage wrestler like Rhino or that douche he used to tag with John Morrison. The World and World Tag Team titles are considered to be "equal" in the eyes of DWW and Terry Funk. Those people in contention for the titles are considered to be Main Event to Upper-Midcard status. I've enjoyed all the comments. I hope you guys like what I'm going for. Something of a mixture of WCW and ECW (that's what I'm trying for.) |

I'll be very brief:
VCW Once again, VCW was leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. I think it has a little bit of everything and I am loving the cliffhanger with Triple H. Orton/Anderson was an awesome way to open the show. I loved the Joe Perfect/Hogan incident and to see the explanation next week. Top to bottom just a great show! DWW DWW skyrocketed this week in my rankings. I don't know if I just got a better grasp on the show or if it was just "cleaner" this week but I loved it. The Miz is a shining star in DWW and I look forward to see where his character progresses. The opening tag match was good. . SCW Similar to LAW and TIW, but a bit more detailed which helps bring out the imagination and visualization of the content. I like the tag team focus, and it has that young vibe to it that has some energy to it. Keep it up. LAW LAW and TIW are very similar in their "compact" style, so there isn't a whole lot to bring out the imagination when visualizing the storylines and matches presented. Good show, and keep it up. I feel that all the feds are pretty even, except for VCW who has gotten a hotter start and DWW who stepped it up this week. TIW While compact, there was some good stuff in the show. Undertaker/Foley was nice. I like the direction you are going with Ted DiBiase. I personally would like to see more storylines but I get a RoH vibe from TIW. (Probably why its called THIS IS WRESTLING eh?) |

I've been looking forward to this since the first week. Only just got round to reading it all. Have been on holiday this week, and trying to get through chunks of it on my mobile phone while I was away from home.
I love all the shows. Some are admittedly stronger than others. My thoughts on each; Vintage Championship Wrestling

alright,let's go
VCW Much better then week 1. The promo by the USO's actually gives them a personality and characters now. Good job there. I still don't like your tag division. The Dudley Boys are the same Dudleys we've seen for the past 10 years. I don't really want to see them carry the belts. It just feels way to easy to book the same Dudley Boys. Give them another gimmick other then being "Deadly." Or Can't you bring in two other guys to kill them off? Same thing with Kennedy. Really? Misterrrrrrrrr Keneddy? Same old shit. Again, loved the Joe Perfect segment. I kind of wish you booked double DQ instead of having Perfect take the loss, but ok. You kind of gayed up Hulk though after he was slapped. "It's ok, it's not your fault" Are Hulk and Cole gay lovers now? This is fucking Hulk Hogan. A guy named Hulk stands up and stairs down Perfect. He doesn't get apoligetic (sp) But Joe is awesome and can't wait to see him and Hulk one on one. Cody/Harris: Loved how you had Cody paint his face Gold. That shit has Borne Again (I don't even know if you'll get the referance) written all over it. Great angle with him The Fiveway Match: Great stuff. Love the concept. You're midcard is very strong HHH/Lethal: ok, I have to apoligize here. No wonder XL said what he said. I never read the part last week about HHH turning on Lethal. I must of glanced right over it. So now I see what you did. I would of killed you last week though by turning HHH heel like that. ugh, that's such an easy route with him. Anyone of these other bookers could do that. So I would not of been a fan of that anyway But you have the mystery angle going, so we'll see what you do. Those are always fun Overall, great show. Liked it 10x better then last week. You have a great mix all over the place. I hope you pull a fast one with HHH and don't book like the WWE would though. SCW It was ok. not a lot going on though. so there's not much to review. Love your tag division and your Matt Hardy angle. But I'm not really interested that much. If you like good old pure wreslting, this is the show for you. DWW I don't know what to say. It's just not my kind of show. It's like ROH to me. Lots of wrestling and ROH type promos. TIW Last week was a great show. This week didn't have the same feel. Not a lot going on. Ted Dibiase has the same exact gimmick as he has on Raw right now. You even gave him the pretty blond. The Foley/Taker thing made no sense. Foley's main event career was jump started by that fall. It didn't end his career. And there's plenty of other things people talk about with Taker other then KOTR 98. I didn't like this at all. I did like Joe choking Taker though. Good job there. The last match was good. I don't like what you're doing with Sheamus/Ziggler and McIntrye. I'd rather see them as a team, then as just associates. I'd rather Zig and Mac help Sheamus to capture the belt and then you do the MacIntrye gets jelous angle. Turn Mac babyface and off you go. The way you're booking is something WWE 2010 would do. I'm big on stong heel stables running a show and you have one here. LAW My fav last week. Let's see what you do this week Fucking love Assasin Michael Tarver. He's prob my fav character followed by Joe Perfect. Love how you had Tarver attack with a lead pipe, my fav wreslting weapon ever. How did you know this? I absolutely hate Big Show, so I am glad you had Tarver attack him. But I also applaud this because you had Tarver attack a high profile main eventer. That's how you create stars. I hope you book Tarver into a Title match down the line. The rest of the show was decent. You did a lot last week, so you couldn't do too may surpries this week. I like what you did with Jericho coming out of the limo. I am intrigued about this. The Cottonwood stuff was also good. The Boss and the Incident stuff still Intrigues me. Can't wait to see what you do Nothing really going on in your ending, which you had a stong one last week. This week was plain. No real cliff hanger to next week. But overall it was another solid show. Final Comments well, fuck me, after reading them all, VCW takes it this week. There's still some stuff I don't like, but I felt this show was the strongest overall. From top to bottom, it was a great show. LAW gets 2nd place followed by TIW. VCW
I like where Joe Perfect is going. Hogan is coming off like a little bitch. That is very hard to believe. Decent promo by the Usos but for a hyped match it was pretty much a squash. Doesn't really give much credibility to the Dudleys or the tag belts. I'm interested in what Cody Rhodes is up to. I assumed that the Undertaker was behind the HHH attacks but I see he is on another roster so it's not him so this peaks my interest more. Stars: Joe Perfect, Mystery Man SCW Like the Williams/Regal team. I'm not really buying Hawkins being any threat to Edge, even with the help of Archer. Battle Royal looked good. Good ending leading to what should be a great PPV match up. Stars: Swagger, Angle DWW Really like Gertner and Raven on commentary. Nice interview with The Miz. I couldn't help but think of Raven and Kanyon at Raven's mom's house from WCW, but it really put Miz over. Nice segment to put Rhino over. A tag match for the Main Event doesn't seem like a Main Event to me. I think it was so that you could end with the Bourne interview but tag title don't have a main event feel to them. Stars: The Miz, Rhino TIW Nothing noteworthy until the Taker/Foley/Joe segment. Really liked Taker's reasoning for attacking Mic, but don't really like Joe being the guy Mic chooses. Don't like all the sportsmanship in the main event. Stars: Samoa Joe LAW Liking the different version of Cena. I like having Tarver attack Big Show and then Show losing. It puts over Tarver, Show and really establishes Jericho as a heel. The Cena/Wolfe match was weird. Why wasn't Wolfe disqualified for using the chair? Stars: Jericho, Cena, Tarver |

The voter turnout is kind of weak, especially since it's not even a public poll. I thought this would garner more attraction

Honestly, I think the turnout may be kind of a good thing. There's a better chance that the people who voted actually read all of the shows. I think we all know that the average attention span of a TPWW poster isn't very long.

Ok DWW, here we go:
Good show. I was not the biggest fan from last week, but this week you made me interested in everything, including the commentary. I loved the promos, I think that is your major selling point. Good matches, and I totally buy the >15 min of ring action in the triple threat. The main event was near perfection. Good action, and drama with the Rey mysterio spot followed by establishment of Evan Bourne's character even more. I really got nothing against this show this week. |

TIW, where is your logo anyway?
Ok pet peeves first since they are far lesser in magnitude than the positives: Since you dedicate your show to in ring action, can we get an estimate on the individual match times? From your description of the action, I am not sure you got a 2 hour show and I just want to confirm what you think. Correct me if wrong though, I remember reading somewhere that the shows are of 2 hours duration each. If not, my bad. Does the announce team have any role in this apart from their intro in the beginning? Good choice for match-ups, especially Natty-McCool. I like that you chose to stick with Ted DiBiase's million dollar gimmick. I would have rather this came on before McCool's match but its just me. It was worth building up Joe last week for the PPV match announcement. I definitely want to see that. I am a bit confused about your title scenario, but that's a good thing as I want to know more about it and will have to tune in next week. Good job, but not yet in my top 2. Getting there though. |

Assassian Michael Tarver baby.
I couldn't help but think of that when watching Raw this week. Remember when Edge ran up the stairs and staired at NXT from above? I pictured Assassian Michael Tarver coming from behind with a lead pipe on Edge |

Went through and wrote this stuff down quite quickly so if there's any spelling mistakes etc, blow me
![]() VCW Never liked in-ring promos right before a match, they usually come across as pretty generic unless and more as filler than anything unless being done with some legit mic talent (see Rock, E&C etc) so to see them before the first 4 matches wasn't very inspiring. Also, the only one I'd like to have seen happen (Joe Perfect fresh off his repackaging) was cut short. Not a fan of the cartoony stuff with the lights either. Having them go out is fine but the broken sledgehammer is a bit daft. Not buying The Uso's for a second as UCLA/Harvard grads either. Also, if you're trying to build them, probably not a good idea to job them out to the Dudleys 2 weeks in a row. Why would anybody care about them or what they've done after that? That said, stronger show than previously. SCW Not sure about the Young Bucks going over the Hardys before but laying down for Regal and Williams. They're young end exciting enough to have 'gotten them over' by showing off some of their tag wrestling and aerial stuff and losing close matches to the more established guys like Hardys, Regal/Williams etc. Love Slater getting shit on. Unlike VSG, I think that spot is perfect for him, the gimmick only adds to it. More in-ring promos followed by matches = meh. Probably would believe Archer more as a viable threat, despite his in-ring 'ability' instead of Curt Hawkins. Love all the Matt Hardy stuff. A dodgy Matt Hardy with this gimmick could be fantastic with the right balance of humour and creepiness, like a cross between V1 Hardy and Super Serial Hardy. Nice finish too. The lack of roster depth is pretty evident with Jack Swagger being the guy to wrestle Angle. I think Punk/Angle was really the only choice for the PPV but that load was blown. Like the first show, stronger than last week. Would probably watch 'irl' just for the Hardy stuff because I think it could be that good. This would have been my #1 had Punk/Angle been the long term plan/Punk didn't do the big fat J.O.B in Week 1. DWW Trying far too hard again to be controversial or funny (went down in flames on both counts), which brings me back to the teenage Russo with his figures comment. I stopped reading after 'everybodies favourite semen stain', which I guess is the equivalent of 'turning off the TV' in this game. Just really bad. TIW Still really like the simple, non complicated layout. Like the DiBiase build too although I think you could have done better than 'foot massages'. And having Skip actually start doing it makes him look like a bitch. But at least you're maybe building towards something. Still don't like Joe going over 2 big guys with the big guys getting so little in. Joe can be built as a threat without having to do it. Also not getting if Taker is supposed to be face or heel (I'm assuming heel) If so, I don't buy it. Nobody wants to boo Taker at this point in his career. Probably could have done with more Sheamus if he's gonna be one of/the top heel as well. I liked the ending, I just don't know how much an audience would respond/care about it as a way to close a show. It's hints at some disarray between the heels and people aren't supposed to want them to do well so why would they care? (they aren't established enough to get by on name value) I like that it wasn't AJ that won the match. Christian and RVD are capable of looking after themselves when it comes to singles. I've never bought into AJ except for when he (excellently) plays dorky heel so having RVD and Christian to help hide his flaws would probably be a smart move. Like I've said, simple and effective for the most part. LAW Very nice opening line with the Cena/cab mention. Builds towards something (namely, Cena showing up) Which turns out to be pretty much straight away. If you were gonna bring him out, you probably should have just opened the show with Cena to maximize the pop and the interest, then bring out the others then the authority figure to make the matches. I love the references to 'The Boss' but not so much 'The Incident'. If you're building towards some kind of reveal as to what the incident was, it wouldn't work because this is the age of the internet and obviously 'The Incident' never happened. If you're saying 'The Incident' as a reference to something your fans presumably already know about (I assume something that lead to the end of WWE/TNA), fair enough that's fine. Nice continued build for the Cottonwood character. Never paid any attention to him 'irl' so I wouldn't know what he looks like etc but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since I assume you didn't just randomly give him that gimmick. I think you should concentrate on establishing Kidd and DH Smith before teasing any kind of problems (as I've said, why would anyone care if they fell out) but if it's just a way to have Smith lose not exactly clean, that's fine. I'd watch Tatsu/Gabriel happily, perfect type of match for TV. Like Tarver taking out Show too to build his character. Wouldn't have him say a whole lot. Good stuff for Jericho. I assume the main was No DQ? Would be a bit confusing having a random chair shot busted out. |

DWW Booker here. First off, not very constructive. Oh well. "semen stain" was a reference to Jesse Neal's past as a United States Sailor, also it came out of the mouth of Joel Gertner. I have the feeling you don't have any knowledge of either character so, I guess that makes sense. Still don't get the Russo comment but, to each his own. Since you didn't critique anything else about the show I have to assume you loved the Miz's interview, Rhino's promo/match and the MCMG Main-Event. ![]() |

I have enough knowledge of Joel Gertner to know that's pretty bad and unimaginative, even for him (ditto the Titanic line, very nice premise, shitty punchline). And you're expecting 'your fans' to automatically know about Jesse Neal's past with a vague and poorly executed reference no mention of said past? If you don't get the Russo comment, I'm guessing you don't have any knowledge of that character. And like I said, I didn't continue reading it after the semen stain comment. What I read up to that was enough to know where the show was gonna be in my rankings. ![]() |
