I think Martha Jones would have been on Torchwood but there were scheduling conflicts between that and Law & Order UK so the actress wasn't able to sign on.

That would have been awesome. I mean, I haven't seen the new Torchwood, but I liked her more than any of the cannon fodder Jack kept around.

I'd say Amy but I've only "seriously" got into the Who with the start of Smith's run.

Martha seemed more like a real person than a characture as I feel Donna and Rose had a tendancy to do.

Amy is scrumptious.

Martha is my least favourite. I always found her a bit irritating. The actress ain't too bad on L&O:UK, though.

Except Martha was at least smart and useful. Rose's sole reason to exist was to serve as a Mary Sue who everybody loved (for some reason) and who was fixated on the Doctor (For a slightly easier to explain reason).

Martha's personality was kinda meh, but she managed to actually justify her presence. That's WAY better than Rose IMO.

Plus, she ALMOST had a character arc.

Which is why Donna is so awesome. She starts off an annoying twat, but she develops into a slightly less annoying twat with some serious character.

And Amy strikes me as how Rose really should have been done. Plus, it was nice to see a male love interest the Doctor wasn't constantly measuring dick size with.

Martha is definitely my favorite. I think Rose was necessary as the damsel in distress/ starry eyed companion in the reboot. She added to the allure and the mystique of the Doctor whereas a strong willed character like Donna or Amy would have been too much too soon.

Donna did get better in the end but she is still my least favorite.

You guys seen this?

I think that's the gift and curse of this entire storyline. The lead up to River being revealed as Amy's daughter was great, but now that we know and can assume she grows up safe and sound to become River, the thought of the Doctor tearing through the galaxy to find her isn't as intriguing to me. Hearing Amy or Rory pester on about finding their baby could get old after awhile too.

The only thing remotely suspenseful will have to do with how they explain away River killing the Doctor, which also isn't as suspenseful since we know Matt Smith has signed on for another season.

Not saying it won't be interesting or that I won't watch, it just seems like this season of Doctor Who was really front loaded in terms of reveals and suspenseful storylines and this second half is mostly going to be about tidying up loose ends and details until the last couple of episodes.

Yeah, I've been preaching the same since the big "reveal." It's kind of anti-climactic, since we know River grows up. They could play with the "History can be rewritten" thing, but she's such a focal point, I don't see that working. And we really know in the end, even that's not a threat.

Also, we knew they had to have a way out of the Doctor dying, period. Even if Matt Smith didn't sign on for another season, the Doctor being killed mid-regeneration ends the line unless they get out of it. It's not Doctor Who without the Doctor. At the very least, they'd have to find away to allow him to regenerate instead of truly dying and getting a Viking funeral.

Fortunately, there's only six episodes left, so I'm assuming the suspense and drama will be held to a minimum and resolved.

For the argument of "It's the journey, not the destination," I didn't get that from the last episode pre-break.

Thats the thing with TV Shows, KK. We know if an actor or actress signs on for another season it usually means that their character in the show will be invincible and instead of "Will they get out of this mess" it becomes "How do they get out of this mess"

To make the show alot better, they shouldn't reveal whether or not an actor signed on or not and leave us truly wondering what COULD happen to the character. For example, if he DIDNT know Smith signed on, could we be sure that Season 7 would be him or not?

Now I would mark out like a motherfucker if we didnt expect him to be back but the Tardis lands and like teases us all episode by not opening and then in the closing minutes when someone is in grave danger, the door opens and Smith walks out and casually states "Oops, I overslept"

The point being, the Doctor will be back regardless. We know this even if we don't know it'd be Matt Smith, though we do. Even if BBC is trying to Kill Doctor Who by stretching it out over two years next season, the Doctor will return. Which already means that ending cannot happen.

I am trying not to be a fanboy. I just...fuck...I love this show. Sort of in the same way the hopeless 29 year old single female sits on the couch eating haagendaaz and watching Greys Anatomy.

I mean, I rarely watch any sci-fi stuff. Keep in mind, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc I did watch alot but I mean like Stargate and other shows of the sort. So I always dismissed Doctor Who as "Other sci-fi time slot filler junk" as I had not come across any sci-fi I liked in ages and a friend at work suggested Doctor Who and I downloaded the first season and my wife and I were laying in bed watching it on the portable DVD player and she really liked it as well.

We had been seaching for a new show to watch since we burnt through the simpsons, family guy, trailer park boys, kenny vs spenny and supernatural already so this was awesome as there was five full seasons and as time went on the show just got better and better and I didnt ever have to wait till the next episode.

This brings us to the here and now...I am too impatient for this shit.

I was the exact same way actually. Then I started watching on Netflix after being bored one day and have been hooked ever since.
