As Dancin' Dave comes out, I would love to hear the polar opposite of a chant.
Nothing. Deafening silence. If people are cheering or booing it shows an excited crowd. It's good TV, even if it's people chanting nonsense. It's the fans having fun. I just want the crowd silent for Dancin' Dave to the point where you hear someone's cell phone rings. That, or if it has to be a legit chant, in the same vein as people chanting "WHAT" when there is a pause, for Dancin' Dave I want to hear them say whatever the hell Lana says. Best I can do for the spelling is "Nemineya." Last edited by FourFifty; 03-06-2014 at 02:20 AM. |

Bryan's knee should be called the "Independence Express". He should do the corner taunt that Godfather used to do before hitting the Ho Train. In fact, when he turns heel he can call it the "No Train".

I was gonna pm Jabba to see if he there was a space spare on this weeks podcast but ended up going to bed instead.
My input would have been: During the description of Alpha Female as "mannish" I'd have said "No, that's TJ Perkins". During the talk of Bryan/HHH's Raw segment is have suggested how great it would have been if HHH were to come out and say "Bryan strong-armed me into agreeing to the match and the stipulation, but here's the thing...I LIED!!". |

I listened to most of this podcast. Interesting to hear the TNA recaps, because I fell behind a few weeks and also did not watch Lockdown. May have to check out some of the Lockdown matches. I probably won't though.
Also, I'm pretty sure somewhere that Daniel Bryan said his Running Knee was called the "Knee Plus". |

All the matches are probably worth checking out, but if you have to pick just one I'd suggest Storm vs Gunner.

Last time I watched they had just gotten back together and had hugged it all out and stuff....
Seems every time I fall behind in TNA there are at least two heel/face turns in the time span. |

They used to do way too much of that, but this particular storyline made a lot of sense.

Had a TLP dream last night. Somehow in this dream, my hotel exists in both Nashville and Chicago, so I had Narc at the front desk coming by to check Afterlife in for their WrestleMania extravaganza. At the same time, though, they were in different enough places to where I had to tell Narc how bad I felt that I wouldn't be joining everyone there because it was too far away. I'm sure more stuff happened, but I mostly remember thinking after I woke up thinking that the person in my dream was really not Narc. Looked completely different, sounded completely different, but in that world he was Narc.

Also. Tuned in as a fan this week. Solid fucking program. Except for Afterlife. He's awful.
![]() J/k. Great show. Especially the Afterlife TNA recaps. And I knew there was going to be complaining about the cage door but I say it was justified this time. It does looks rather silly. It is just something in wrestling that we've accepted by now that is kind of ridiculous. |

I don't get all the "NerdRage™" against cage doors. Why wouldn't you have a door on a cage? Is it dumb for prisons to have doors? Of course not! Plus, its a great way for a chickenshit heel to win or have that scene of two men so beat up that all he can do is use all his might to try and crawl through the door to survive.

The whole idea of escaping a cage match is counterintuitive to the original pont of the match; to provide a ground on which two hated rivals can meet without interference/without the heel high-tailing/being counted out/were the pair have to fight to a finish. An escape cage match rewards you for walking away from a fight. The door just makes it worse.

Only time I saw a triumphant cage door exit was when Bruno beat the shit out of Stan Hansen, left him bleeding and tied up in the ropes knocked out, then walked out of the cage

For example, JBL's win at No Way Out 2005 was fucking brilliant. He didn't win via the door, but he still won in an incredibly chickenshit way that gave him even more heat, made Big Show look even stronger, and ended their short feud. What is a more chickenshit heelish thing than finding a way to screw the fans and the opponent out of their "AHA! GOTCHA NOW, MOTHER FUCKER!" moment that the cage match represents. It is the natural evolution of the gimmick match. Cage matches haven't been the be-all end-all gimmick in years, so it makes sense to give it more versatility. HIAC and the Chamber have the role of being the be-all end-all this fight is going to end in a fair and bloody war gimmick match.

Suspension of disbelief. It's hard when you know somebody could win whenever they want by walking out of the ring.

...not really. They do those spots where the heel goes right for the escape and gets caught all the time. If you overthink it and basically refuse to let yourself enjoy the match because you are missing the forest for the trees, then yes I see your point. It is not like the other guy is just going to let him walk out of the fucking door. Then, you also get into all the psychological parts of guys wanting to dish out more punishment or having too much pride to win by escape. It all adds elements to the matches and the characters in said matches.

You're wrong, James.
Stepping out of the ring requires only a tiny amount of space, and the referees generally open the doors rather rapidly (particularly in WWE). |
