Oh well, hockey's over for another season, hopefully to return in the fall but that's doubtful. It was a good run for the Bolts, winning the East then taking on Islanders, The Canadiens ( who really didn't put up much of a fight - :foc: ), Philly and the Flames. All on the support of Brad Richards, Martin St.Louis (damn, he's short) and Vinny Lecavalier....

And what about them Flames? They were off and on all season, placed in the middle of the pack and then started to take down division leaders Vancouver, Detroit and the Sharks. Iggy and the boys were hurtin' going into the final and tonight, as much as they tried to win it - fell on their faces with a few stupid penalties and only a last minute rush to try to bring this game seven into overtime. Alas, once again, they choked.

As a Canadian, I was saddened to see an American team (loaded with Canuck talent, may I add) win the Cup once again and we're left out of the celebration. Just the long flight home, hopefully to 17th Ave where the party's been.

As an Albertan, I am smiling a little devilish smile tonight as the rivals to my Oilers didn't get the job done and it may take a while before they get to do it again. See you Flames in the 2019 Stanley Cup finals

But, alas, from a financial perspective, on the verge of winning a hockey pool - it took one goal to ruin a lil extra money for me. Sigh, I knew that was too good to be true :foc:
Yeah, I bet everyone across Canada who went crazy buying Flames jersey are burning them right now. I was smart and picked up an Oilers one and the '77 Team Canada one.

Yea, I didn't fall for that.

And while you were here, did you see all of those Flames flags hooked up to cars? Can you imagine how many of those will be in the trash this morning?

But you have to hand it to the Flames fans, I guess there was still 50,000 of them after the game on the Red Mile - whooping it up. Real classy. Probably the first time I can say that about Calgary.

Oh, and for those that wanna see how the girls in Calgary party - Flames Girls -edit- and click on one of the links on the left...

I would have to agree with you there. Hopefully the Flames will realize that and build another team next year with him as the central figure. And also, keep Kippy too - he's the man when it comes to goaltending.

This was easily seen in the third period when he skated through 3 Tampa players like it was nothing and almost scored. Iginla is a total badass.

In the end it was a a pretty good end to a great series but the Flames only showed that heart they are so famous for in the last 10 minutes, you cannot go into a game 7 and only play 10 minutes and expect to win. In the end as i said before The Flames have all the heart in the world but they can't finish, it was infuratingly frusterating to watch this team get chance after chance and shoot wide or shoot high. In the end it was undisciplined play and superior goaltending from the Bulin Wall that killed them. Congrats to the Bolts they were the better skilled team, despite being outplayed. They showed up tonight, Calgary waited until the last 10 minutes, what can you say?

Oh and since I'm doing this everywhere: Danny Boyle you made Ottawa Proud

Got to watch it anyway. Keep jumping to the back to watch it every so often. It's nothing like sitting at home watching it in HD though

Does anyone here think the Flames will be back next year as a contender, or will they suffer from the curse of the underdogs, which has affected The Canes and Ducks? Both the Canes and Ducks were praised for their excellent Stanley Cup runs and we're touted as teams for the future, yet both teams fell back into mediocre standings in the last few years due to free agency and other problems. Can Calgary keep the tean core together and learn from this loss?

Personally I think they can sustain a good challenge next season.

Colorado isn't going to be as good next year, I think Vancouver will probably take the Division again but I would guess calgary will finish 4th or 5th in the west next year.

The Flames won't make the playoffs next year. See, Buffalo, Carilona, Anahiem. Teams that shocked us by makeing it to the finals, then not makeing the playoffs the next year.

Pittsburg, will make the playoffs tho Even if I have to sell my kidney and liver to pay for some of there salarys

Oh well, at least something good came out of all the Stanley Cup finals...

All of the people in the pool choose Calgary to take it and that's all that mattered as I walked away with second place in the pool and a nice $100 to boot. Off to buy me some shoes...so I can walk down to Calgary and boot some of them in the ass for losing
