If they're comparing it to FFXIII, that's 40 hours of main content. But the content will actually be good compared to that unless they fuck it up.

They're talking about making story changes to fit it, so I'm guessing some parts of the game will be elaborated on more.

Yea. The elaborating parts are definitely what I am looking forward to. There is so much backstory for each character. I would actually like to see Yuffie have more of appearance/impact on the game.


Cannot wait to see Emerald and Ruby Weapon(s).

1) Some recent rumors regarding the upcoming Legend of Zelda Wii U game includes voice acting for most characters in the game, Link will still not have a voice actor, and the ability to chose to be a male or female Link as the main character. The game is also rumored again to be pulling a Twilight Princes in the sense of having both a Wii U and NX version.

3) Bioware's co-founder recently went public against the idea of upgrade-able PS4s and Xbox Ones with his biggest issue being the added burden it will have on game development. I've noticed recently that I'm no longer getting achievements pop up when I unlock them, they just appear in the unlocked list. I've looked at the notification settings and everything is on, so I'm not sure why this has stopped. I am always online and the achievements show up in the achievements list straight away, I'm just no longer getting the plop and pop.

Any ideas?

There is a quick fix, turn lighting to low.

Honestly, rather wait to play it than resort to the console version for DS3. It's so goddamn smooth at 60fps

Sources close to Giantbomb recently leaked rumored details regarding the upcoming PS4.5 upgraded console.

The console itself is codenamed the Neo and starting this October, PS4 developers are required to develop two versions of their games with one as the base version and one as the Neo version. In terms of overall improvements, the Neo is around 30% more powerful than the current PS4 console.

The NEO will feature a higher clock speed than the original PS4, an improved GPU, and higher bandwidth on the memory. The documents we've received note that the HDD in the NEO is the same as that in the original PlayStation 4, but it's not clear if that means in terms of capacity or connection speed. Starting in October, every PS4 game is required to ship with both a “Base Mode” which will run on the currently available PS4 and a “NEO Mode” for use on the new console.
In regards to 4k support, the Neo will be able to support 4k gaming but the games itself do not need to be native 4k for visuals. Only demand by Sony is the games must reach a minimum and/or stable frame-rate in order to be accepted as PS4 4k games.

In regards to PSN and online services, the Neo will share the same services and won't have its own separate store or online communities for games.

There are also several strict demands for the Neo that Sony currently won't bulge with no Neo-only games or Neo-exclusive content allowed for the PS4. This also carries over to the upcoming Playstation VR headset.

In regards to older games, Sony is giving developers complete control if they want to make a patch for those games to take advantage of the Neo's beefed up specs.

Nothing regarding the price nor a possible trade-in program by Sony was revealed by the sources.

Honestly think it will launch with a Polaris based chip rather than GCN and they've just gotten a GCN with 36 CUs in there for dev units. They're mass producing a Polaris with 36CUs and not a GCN so it would make sense.

Shame about the CPU bump. I doubt we'll see framerate increses on the NEO versions.

Graphics wise, it really is. The raw GPU power alone is going from 1.84 TF to 4.2 TF, so over double the performance.

Still bummed about the CPU since that's the open world game bottleneck, but they're really pushing the GPU in a closed box. Shame AMD couldn't have Zen ready in time.

That's just it though - a bottleneck is a bottleneck. It seems dumb to upgrade that much power, graphics wise, when you know the CPU isn't being given the same consideration. It may seem minor, but it seems like a half-done "upgrade", considering the pricetag will most likely not justify it.

I've read through some of the design documents and Sony are basically saying that traditionally CPU tasks should be moved to the GPU, for instance like cloth physics. Shit is so complex for developers though, they've not fully exploited multi core stuff and now they're offloading stuff to Compute on the GPU.

In other NEO news, according to Colin of Kinda Funny, the developers he's talked to aren't happy with this because of the Sony mandate of having both modes for October on. Games coming out in September are also affected by the mandate where the NEO mode needs to be patched in. I'm all for an upgrade because these consoles launched so weak and with me buying PSVR, I'll see the benefits, but this sounds like a fucking mess.

Microsoft are testing MULTIPLE new XBones each with a different spec, so fuck knows what they're thinking. They might just see which one they should launch as their mid-cycle upgrade, or go full Steambox where you buy a PC that you shove under the TV and the options for a box are low, medium and high or whatever.

Good or bad, with all this AND a new Nintendo console, E3 is going to be a lot of fun.

Platinum Games head Tatsuya Minami has stepped down. He'll be replaced by Kenichi Sato.

Sato seems to want to carry on the same focus on quality and I think it's in safe hands, but I'd love to know why Tatsuya has stepped down. He seemed pretty committed and the Activision deal seemed to have given them a good bump while maintaining at least a decent quality on budget-level games.

1) EA announced Mirror's Edge Catalyst has been delayed from its original May 24th date to now a June 7th release date (June 9th for Europe). Official reason given was due to feedback from the recent beta of the game.

3) Bethesda announced they will be holding two official livestreams for the upcoming Doom game with the first occurring on April 25th dealing with the game's mod tools and the other on April 27th dealing with the game's campaign mode.

My CoD Blops III updated today and has been all fucked up since. Random freezes on all game modes, "dropped" connection on MP quite a bit, just all around performance issues. Hard rebooted my console and everything. Digital version too, so it can't be a disc issue.
