You can genuinely dislike Tony and also turn that dislike into a caricature of “Guy who REALLY dislikes Tony” though. |

No comments on this TBS show. It didn’t even hit my radar this week. I’m interested in the rating though. |

So there it is, 5 times since December 31st that I replied with a nonsense Tony Khan joke. Anything else was a serious take and a proper reply to the threads they were in. |

Daly's Place is there home arena. It doesn't matter that it's 5 years old. AEW is younger than that. It's their home arena. For them it's a big deal.
CM Punk is their biggest star. Their biggest star made his debut in their home arena and they put it first on the marquee for their weekly TV show that week. And this triggered a deep "LOL FUCK TONY KHAN" reaction from you. You see the issue here? |

Why didn't Cody Rhodes get a "First time at Daily's Place hype" the first time he was there? What about Moxley or Omega? Daniel Bryan has main evented 2 Wrestlemania's, where was his Daily's Place debut graphic and tweets? Hell they had Shaq have a freaking match at Daily's Place, why didn't Daily's Place get top billing then? Tony Khan loves CM Punk, has gone on record as saying Punk was the first guy he wanted to sign because he is such a fan. And really that is what it is all about, he is not their biggest star, he is just Tony Khan's favorite toy. As for Punk himself, CM Punk said for YEARS he would never go back to wrestling, "NEVER EVER EVER!", but then he failed at everything else he tried, and it changed to "I meant I'll never go back to WWE". Except he tried to get his agent to reach out to WWE, and they said no thanks, not interested. Then he got Fox to hire him for a show about WWE, and tried to get WWE to hire him again, and again WWE said no. Then Fox offered to pay Punk's salary for him to be on Smackdown, costing Vince nothing, and Vince STILL said no. Then all of a sudden, "hey I love AEW", even though for over 2 years he ripped them. Talking about how they are unprofessional by texting him offers, how they would have to pay him WAY MORE because he could make more going back to WWE. Meanwhile all he does is STILL talk about WWE in promos and interviews and on Twitter, because who is he if he is not "Fed Bad" guy? Dude hates WWE, they held him back and stifled his creativity. Now in AEW he has the creative freedom to be himself, except instead he came back as the exact same WWE character he was when he quit. Same white T-Shirt, same music, same moves, same catchphrases, etc. I Yes most of this is a about Punk and not Daily's Place, but to tie it all together, it is not JUST Daily's Place that was irrelevant, Punk's first time in any arena is not a big deal either. |

Punk only started to become interested in AEW when Brodie died and he's never taken drugs or smoked cigarettes. CM Punk is a real star who has a deep relationship with the AEW which sees itself as the smartest wrestling fans.
Punk holds victories over talents that Roman does not, legends like Raven, McGuiness and Regal. Sure Roman has a very very cool tattoo that really kicks ass and also really bad ass hair that makes you wanna just get up and go! But that aside guys like CM Punk are hard to find. He doesn't drink he doesn't smoke and his only addiction is competition. That's a shoot brother, he is the G in legit. |

Sting is the only one you can argue.
None of the other ones you mentioned are a bigger star than Punk. You’re being ridiculous. |

I think Bryan is a bigger star for sure. Arguments can easily be made for Jericho and Moxley being bigger deals than CM Punk nowadays too.
If Punk didn't have that 7 year lay off he would be the biggest star of them all rn though. |

I dunno about Jericho actually. I think he's fallen out of that argument over the last year now that I think about it.
But I still think Bryan and prob Mox eclipse Punk. |

Bryan’s got that same “golden days of the IWC darlings” recognition but I think Punk’s a bit of a bigger name. Definitely a bigger name than Moxley and the others mentioned.

Why are we comparing Cody, who’s seemingly typecast himself as a mid card wrestler in his own fed, to CM Punk, a top merch mover who was one of the main guys in the biggest wrestling company on earth? Like, it’s not even close lol. If the company didn’t hype up Punk appearing on TV they’d be idiots.

LOL by what metric? Bryan has accomplished things Punk never did. Plus whatever you want to think about reality shows, Bryan has been on those for many years as well. The YES chant took over sports for a while. Bryan Danielson is a far bigger star.

So what? Hook’s t-shirt sales also outdrew everyone else in the company. At least temporarily. That includes all those other guys you mentioned as AEW’s biggest stars. So if I mentioned Hook beating their shirt sales as a point against them would that be valid? Or is it only somehow a knock against Punk? lol

I think the "biggest star" with the most "mainstream" name recognition is probably Jericho
Biggest "draw" among people who watch wrestling I would say is still Punk at this point, as far as ticket sales and PPV buys and merch sales and stuff... but feel like that will continue to wear off as time goes on since a lot of it is him returning after being away for so long |

The t-shirt sales thing just shows the top sellers of the week, so makes sense that Hook's new shirts would temporarily be at the top. Most people who want CM Punk shirts already bought them...

Punk. So... misleading. But yes. Merch sales are important. That doesn’t mean Hook taking #1 temporary is particularly relevant. Hook is not in the conversation. Lol Punk is also responsible for the biggest rating they’ve had (I think) since their debut. And that happened on the late Friday night B-show. |

We clearly disagree on his importance/value to AEW overall. He is the is the central figure we have butted heads over the last 6 months, with a sprinkling of Tony Khan mixed in. It is what it is, an agree to disagree situation. |

Cody is a huge star, girls love him and guys hate him. He is one of the best in the world in the ring and constantly has 5 star matches and has a beautiful wife and cute dog. Sure his neck tattoo is a huge mistake and he went to hard for America once in a promo but he is the star of Go Big Show and was on seven episodes of Arrow.
