I honestly haven't used Netflix on the Xbox since my old Xbox RRODed and I tried the PS3 version. I like the PS interface. It's a shame they keep feeling the need to update it, though. I like the new one slightly less. Yes, let's start things up with letterboxing over the film so if you're watching a foreign movie the subtitles are blocked.

It's like they knew the system was fine, so they needed to fuck it up.

Wii U has the best Netflix purely because of using the controller as a visual remote.

It does mean you have to own a Wii U, however.

I prefer Netflix on PS3, it just lets you chill and browse, and read up on films before opening them. On 360 if I selected a film to look at the synopsis it would just autoplay everything I touched, so annoying.

Haven't tried it on Wii U yet.

According to Sony, the light bar on the PS4 can not be turned off and always has to be on regardless if its being used or not.

They were asked the question on Twitter involving if it was possible to turn it off in order to save battery power.

According to Eurogamer, Sony fibbed a bit when it came to why the PS4 has 8GB of RAM.

Sony stated they went from the initial 4 GB to the current 8GB to "appease" developers but instead turns out the real reason is due to the new OS reserves 3.5 GBs for its own use. It also ends up being around half a GB more than the Xbox One which has 3GB reserved.

The OS is speculated to be a bit flexible and could give up some of its RAM in the future but only once Sony has the OS complete and optimized.

A few non-gaming stuff was revealed by Sony during a recent Q&A event.

* The cap limit for a Friend List was revealed to be 2,000 friends possible. For comparison, the current limit on the PS3 is 100 friends possible.
* Party Chat will be a free service to everyone and won't be tied to a Playstation Plus membership.
* While there is a requirement for PS4 games to support Remote Play for the Vita, there is none for using the Vita as an optional controller. Developers have to decide and code on their own the ability to do such a thing for certain PS4 games.

For those in Europe and haven't pre-ordering the system, Sony states to retailers that pre-orders made starting today are not guaranteed to be honored when the console launches in November.

I'm mostly looking forward to the face-off analysis of all the third party games to determine whether developers are still programming for Xbox and then doing inferior ports for PS, or whether PS gamers will finally be getting an equal experience.

And towards the end that edge started to be lost.

Not to mention we did see a slight rise in games initially designed with PC as the primary. I'm curious as to whether we'll see a rise in that with similar architecture.

Of course, one of the industry bigs commented on that and said that despite their similarities, the three won't be all that easy to work together with, so....I don't know.

But yeah, it's up in the air, but at least Sony didn't shoot itself in the foot AT THE STARTING LINE.

I wonder if it'll even show that much this gen. But that goes back to how compatible they are, I guess.

I'm sure I read an interview somewhere where a developer said they COULD have programmed perfect ps3 ports, but it would take double the development time so they knowingly released inferior ports instead. Lazy cunts.

Double development time means more cost. And PS3 ports just barely beat out 360 versions. So yeah, I wouldn't waste that extra time either.

Sony states they will be revealing the release date along with some other launch-related details during this week's Gamescom expo.

It's more to do with supply of consoles and marketing. I think MS are planning to launch the same day in the US and Europe, but no date yet and they've just axed a load of the European countries they're launching in too and pushing them back to 2014.

Yup, now it's just 'translation', but some of those countries excluded speak English primarily.

There's some rumour that it's actually an issue that they're not getting a good enough yield on the chips they're producing, so there might be very limited stock even in the countries they do launch in. Will be very interesting to see the shipping numbers of both consoles launches.

According to Jack Trenton, the PS4 being initially cheaper than the Xbox One doesn't guarantee long term future success for the PS4.

Polyphony Digital states its a strong possibility that Gran Turismo 6 could end up skipping the PS4 or "evolve" by a lot to become Gran Turismo 7 instead.
