Darius Vassell has completed his £2 million move to Manchester City from Aston Villa.

Vassell left Villa's pre-season tour of Sweden to fly to Manchester to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms after the two clubs agreed a fee on Monday.

The 25-year-old has now signed a four-year contract at The City of Manchester Stadium, ending his seven-year association with his only professional club.

Vassell has 22 England caps to his name but struggled last season with injuries, managing just two goals for Villa.

David O'Leary had originally signalled his intention to keep Vassell at Villa Park, but decided to allow him to join Stuart Pearce's outfit.

Pearce is rebuilding following the departure of Shaun Wright-Phillips, and has now signed a new-look strike force with Vassell joining Andy Cole at the club.

Vassell will join Pearce's troops for training on Wednesday and will make his debut against either Sheffield Wednesday or Stoke, who face City over the weekend in pre-season friendlies.

What a funny turn events that is. Claridge has a board meeting with the topic being him asking the board if the club can take on Colin Lee on a non-contract basis. The meeting ends with Claridge being dismissed and Colin Lee now in charge of the club. It's a funny old game.

Jonathan Woodgate has rubbished reports that has suffered another setback and is considering hanging up his boots.

It was widely reported that the Real Madrid defender had broken down in training once again and looked no closer to making his debut following his £13.8m move from Newcastle a year ago.

Woodgate was said to be considering retirement if specialists continue to draw a blank on his recurring thigh problem.

But Woodgate insists that there is no problem, saying: "My rehabilitation has been going exactly to plan. There’s been no breakdown and I’m going to Austria with the rest of the squad next week as planned."

Poor Jonathon glad we got rid of him obviously but he's a great player when fit and seemed like a nice enough lad. Apparently we've offered to take him back if he gets his contract cancelled.

Van de Meyde is fucking shite. Absolutely terrible final ball. Like Gronkjaer except slower and with a worse final ball.
