I am hoping for a Bengals/Saints SB just cause that's like the biggest underdog fight of all time..

Wow... yeah, me and RP agreeing, how rare...
I don't blame Caldwell, I think this came from Polian, because this has been team policy when Dungy coached... Did they year the won it all, the only year they didn't rest players? haven't they been upset everytime they rest players? I'm ok with taking Manning out, but not then... 1 more drive, score a TD, be up 12pts and run off the clock a bit more... Also, leave in your defense... ugh... I'm not a Colts fan, but anything to shut up mercury morris. I still think the Colts are the "team to beat" but I really think both leagues are a lot closer then I thought... I really thought the Saints were the team, but the Cowboys made their OL look like swiss cheese.... Pats looked great today, with a lot defensive injuries but against a team that isn't that good. Positives they shut down one of the best RB in the league. Brady looked liked the 2007 Brady... the duck move under a defender was great. Seeing Morris and Taylor run the ball was good, gives up 3 RB (if Maroney can hold onto the ball). |

Because the Saints have clearly demonstrated one of the best teams in the league, so there's no way to call them an underdog. It's like Harrison in '04 and '07 saying "no one shows us any respect...." yeah, you can't play the underdog card when you're the top team in the league. |

Dude... they were up 5, they should have stayed in, it's a shot at history, only 2 teams have had a undefeated regular season, only 1 team 16-0, only 1 team undefeated full season.
They had a shot to be the only un defeated 19-0 team. They should have left Manning in. Comparing the drop off at any other position to Manning is just silly. |

wtf, why are you arguing with me? talk to Jim Caldwell about that. my only point was the Colts had Manning for 2 and a half quarters and could of easily put the Jets away in that time

"@il duce" I just never understood "I don't have a team, so I'll just pick one that seems cool" mentality. I live right outside of DC and I root for the Giants, but that is just because my dad grew up in New York and rooted for them and that is how I was raised. Same for baseball with the Mets. But when I started getting into hockey and the NBA I just rooted for Washington teams because it's not like I was "raised" on those sports and I had no predisposition to like any particular team. It just makes sense to root for the home team because you can watch the games and go to them and stuff. It sucks rooting for out of town teams because they are never on TV.

Ignoring all the injuries the Colts have had coming into the game (and the fact Freeney came back for this game), Jets were holding the Colts to just 15 points by the time Manning got taken out. Can't really blame the backup for the 1st turnover since the O-Line did nothing and let the free defender get the blindside hit to cause a turnover.
After that Colts basically fell apart and didn't adjust. They could have went to a run game to put less pressure on their backup QB but refused. |

The 106yd return happened, and Manning responded with a TD. A much needed 2-point conversion failed, and then Manning was taken out of the game.
Painter started by immediately getting shut down. Colts D stopped the Jets on their next attempt. Painter starts off the next series by fumbling and giving up a TD. The game turned around so quickly that it didn't really matter what happened before. Perhaps if Manning had played the next series, a score might have happened. But what's to say Painter wouldn't have choked all the same in the 4th? Manning, Wayne, Clark, and Addai were benched. But really, you can't bench them and not Manning, because the line might fall apart without good weapons to turn to, and then Manning might get injured. |

The Colts lose next week to Buffalo (HA HA) and ride a 2 game losing streak into the playoffs just like the Saints who will likely be riding a 3 game losing streak after losing to Carolina. Both teams will be 1 and out in the 2nd round of the playoffs. BOOK IT
If Baltimore can't make it somehow, I like SD/Philly SB |

Out of all the possible SB matchups, I'd most like to see Cincy/Green Bay. Can't see it happening though. Wouldn't mind seeing the Cards make it and give it another try.

I get rooting for a team because that's what your dad cheered for or whatever when you were growing up. That is just getting started when you are young, and following the same team your whole life. I have never rooted for a team though. Everyone around here is a Chiefs fan, and I did not want to follow a team based on the fact that they are my 'state' team or whatever. That's cool if that's what you want to do, but I don't base my sports loyalty on where I live, especially when I'm not from here and don't plan on being here my whole life. Indianapolis isn't that much farther than KC anyways from here. Twice the drive, but still only a 1 day trip. If I am really going to go to a football game, then I don't mind driving an extra 3-4 hours to see a team I -want- to see rather than a team that's "close". Its the proverbial "you can't flip a switch and turn it off an on just like that" deal. The Saints especially since I really can see them losing to the Panthers..no way they can ride a 3 game losing streak into the playoffs and win their first game off the bye. They'll get beat by whoever wins the WC round matchup which will likely have way more momentum going into that game. The Colts will likely be in the same situation, especially if they find some way to lose to Buffalo...and I mean, whats the point of playing any starters vs Buffalo now...Indy Backups could very well lose to Buffalo..

I dunno. It's not like I "plan" on being in DC my whole life, not that I would really have a problem with it but it would legitimately be hard for me to leave behind the sports teams here that I love. It's sorta like I feel a "bond" with everyone around here who loves the Caps. Part of that is because they are awesome right now and if they start sucking people will stop caring about them because DC is not a hockey "town," but it feels good to be surrounded by fans of the same team. |

Yeah, see that doesn't bother me. I see the Colts play on the NFL Redzone channel, and on ESPN when they play monday nights, or on regular channels when they're on Sunday night games. I am online way more than I watch TV, so I get plenty of news and RSS feeds about the Colts. And I do 99% of my shopping online, so I can get Colts gear whenever I want.
If I had been a KC fan growing up around other KC fans, I'd probably have the same outlook on things, so I get what you are saying for sure. I don't hate KC by any means, but I certainly don't like their team or feel 'connected' to other Chiefs fans. DS being a fan of the Colts with me is enough for me. |

you're going to get shit about that all the time because you picked one of the top two teams in the league as your favorite team. I am not sure how much that weighed in your decision.

But, I really like the class they have as a team. They are confident, but not cocky. The players are talented, but don't seem to brag. That's just what I like now that I have watched them play for the season. I know the playoffs still have to come, and that's what really matters, but I really like the overall quality of the team. |

Sounds more like they are trying to find a scapegoat or scapegoats for why they struggled or were inconsistent this year without blaming the coach or QB/star player that other teams would have done.

I think the issue lies more with coaching than anything else. Sheridan is definitely not Spags and that is evident. I know that the Giants have had a few key injuries on defense, but overall the personnel has largely been the same as last year and Sheridan hasn't gotten it done. Remember the story out of training camp that Osi and Sheridan got into it? Who knows what else has gone on behind the scenes with that situation, and if the coaches perceive Osi as half-assing his level of play?
To be honest, I don't want to see Osi get cut, but if he does get cut I think the Giants are fine defensively. I wouldn't cut him, if they want to move him, trade him. Tuck is the definitive starter at one DE spot, and I think if Osi stays, Kiwi goes soon because Kiwi is good enough to start on the majority of NFL teams. |

I don't think you can blame Manning, he has had some bad games but overall is having a great year, personally. I think Coughlin is the right man for the job, I don't think Sheridan is as far as the DC position is concerned.

Yeah didn't imply it was Manning's or Coughlin's fault since most teams that struggled would start with blaming a coach or their star player as the main reason when it could have been the GMs fault or owners fault (ex Redskins) or team lacks the spirit to win (ex Raiders for years).

Also, if Minnesota can win out then it looks like both Green Bay and Arizona and Philly and Dallas will be playing in Week 17 AND THEN playing the Wild Card games. Crazy. Like a total NFC Wild Card round preview in week 17. I'm almost positive that whoever wins the Philly/Dallas game next week will lose the following week though. It's gonna make a bizarre feeling watching that game. I know some part of me is going to actually be rooting for Philly to take the NFC East. |

Wow. Looking at the playoff generator again, it's actually possible for all four wild card games to take place in week 17.
Dallas/Philly, Arizona/Green Bay, Cincy/Jets, Houston/New England. This is a crazy fucking season... |
