And yeah, that 95% number is obviously more of an indictment toward wrestlers of today than it is praise toward Punk. Obviously we go back in time and that number drops to like 5%. Lol

Most wrestlers today haven’t been in a real fight.

You are being generous on that 5%

But this is a fair assessment, to be honest. I want both parties to lose, but if one has to win, I would go with the one that would improve the company overall. Especially if it fosters a "listen to the guys that have been there before. Even if you don't agree, you may be surprised" attitude in the back, which is severely lacking. Which is actually one of the issues with Hangman.

Like I said, fuck both of em, but Punk slightly less?

The Bucks aren’t in AEW to make money, create hot programs, or elevate the company they’re in. They’re in AEW to fart around with their friends. Why they didn’t book themselves to have their second match against red hot FTR for the tag titles at All Out is proof enough for me. They don’t need the trios titles and mooching off Kenny’s return, which has been uninspired from a storytelling pov, just tells me they’re not really interested in the things punk was highlighting; making money, selling tickets and selling ppvs.

Say what you will about Punk, what he said isn’t wrong. And I firmly believe he’d beat up the bucks lol

I didn’t watch any of the show and have only read comments about what happened after. But man, whoever said AEW is the spiritual successor to WCW, they weren’t kidding.

I really can’t wait to see what the fuck happens at Grand Slam. Last year they threw out probably the closest thing to a PPV card on TV that they could’ve, on both Dynamite and Rampage.

People are very much expecting Punk/MJF and unless they’re gonna carry these real life tensions into story and do Punk/Hangman or Punk/Omega or something else like that I don’t see how it can be anything but Punk/MJF at that show.

Booking has been messy but they’ve got a chance to get some goodwill back. They drop the ball with this at their big stadium show and they might actively start to lose fans from what they thought was a reliable baseline.

Punk v Omega and the Bucks sounds due strictly because the latter three can’t cut convincing non dorky promos. I think they’ll save mjf v punk for full gear. Can’t see them moving the title off punk before then. And they should try to sell their third meeting as a huge ppv main event instead of a TV match.

I mean, if the bucks and hangman were the ones starting rumors about colt being fired or resigned to ROH true, then they already proved punks point.

I also don’t see how anyone expects him to just sit there and have all these rumors floating around and expect him to say nothing

Surely the answer to all of this is that Adam Page decided to bring up the situation on live TV and air out something personal in a really unprofessional way?

If the whole situation is anyone’s fault, it’s his for bringing backstage tension and gossip on to their TV show and trying to cut out the legs of their biggest star?

Take that entire description and you’re describing an average mark. Now add SOME training, experience, stamina, athleticism, etc. and you’ve got Punk. You’re judging Punk as uniquely unqualified to fight because he actually tried against other pro fighters and there’s video evidence. As bad as he was, you can’t seriously hear “the marks could take him” and think of that as anything but hyperbole.

Others were backing Punk and questioning why EVPs stormed into his locker room, placing Punk in a situation where he would be outnumbered and that their decision to go there was partly responsible.

*Others are questioning how things will go down at TV this Wednesday given the situation involved the company's new champion, three EVPS and a Producer, all of whom are in positions of being leaders behind the scenes.

*The Bucks and Omega left Chicago earlier today.

*AEW is being very tight-lipped about the situation but the belief among those we've spoken with is the company is likely trying to determine where blame should be placed and what their course of action is going forward.

*It should be noted that over the course of the day, some of the stories around the incident have gotten more and more fantastical (as they were passed and on) and involved other names. In regard to FTR (who are close with Punk) and Hangman Page (close with the Elite, obviously), they were not present as they had all exited the NOW Arena after the PPV had concluded as they were not needed for the Media Scrum. They were not involved.

*There were some who had sympathy for MJF, feeling the situation overshadowed his return angle that closed the PPV and that the entire scenario has now deflected the attention from the PPV itself.

Steele should be rightfully fired immediately.

I don’t know why Kenny and the bucks thought it was a good idea to go into Punk’s locker room. Instead of being executives and reaching out to set up a meeting, you know, like real executives.

Regardless, Tony needs to squash this shit ASAP because it is fucking toxic to his company and its perception and it’s once again overshadowing what was a killer main event IMO and the return of asédialo their most talked about star.

I don't think saying they suck as wrestlers is fair to say, they just need more of a filter on them. They're like Russo without Vince. They've just gotta tone down the act (I'm speaking more so about the Bucks than I am about Omega).
