Why does it have to be sudden death? Why not just play another quarter? Or at least a partial quarter or something?

Football is definitely a game that uses a lot of strategy tied into the game clock, I really don't like that element being eliminated when it comes to overtime.

It doesn't have to be a "full" quarter. Even if it is, how often does OT happen and how much more beat up are the players really going to get? I think they could manage.

Teams do things in overtime they would never do during a regular game unless they were in the situation at the end of a half/game because of the game clock.

I just don't like such a drastic change between regulation and overtime. It's almost like its a completely different game when it comes first score sudden death.

OT couldn't be an extra full quarter or even half quarter. Why? It'd take too long. A regular 4Q game often will run over the usual time given to it by CBS/FOX, let alone a game that had to play one or more extra quarters. And even if it's a shorter OT period wouldn't mean anything. The last 2 minutes of a half are the longest part of a game.

Plus, the NFLPA would never agree to it because, as someone else said, it gives the players more time to be injured. Bullshit to me, you make hundreds of thousands to millions and millions of dollars, just play the fucking game I play for free and get hurt doing at my own expense. Bullshit, but their reasoning nonetheless.

The whole point of the sudden death rule was to stop games from ending in a tie, or the frequency of them at least. I've never had a problem with the rule. You lost the coin toss, play some defense and get the ball. Or, win the game in the 4 quarters allotted in regulation.

There never will be a perfect solution, and there will always be complaints about whatever rule is in place from some camp. I don't even see why they're fucking with it to be honest.

I guess the game could continually get tied but I don't know. I just find their current system to be pretty odd. Just doesn't seem to fit the game of football.

I also don't get the college rule, why totally eliminate kick-off and returns? Special teams is 1/3 of the game

HBO would not comment on Tuesday, but at the recent Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Greenburg - a longtime Jets fan - was joined at ringside by Jets owner Woody Johnson and Tannenbaum.

This represents a dramatic change in philosophy for the Jets, who now fancy themselves as a media-friendly organization. Two years ago, under Eric Mangini, they were a clandestine franchise that never would have allowed cameras into their inner sanctum.

To be honest, it doesn't matter if Roethlisberger is guilty or not. The guy has put himself in situations where he is at least accused of wrong doing. The public perception is pretty much reality and I imagine that the perception of him is poor after these two incidents.

It doesn't shock me that Goodell hasn't done anything yet. He was all over Pacman's ass, but Roethlisberger is the face of the Steelers. We wouldn't want to suspend a player of that magnitude, would we?

I heard on the radio today that the security feed of the night of the alleged assault was copied over by the club by more recent footage. I recall on Mike & Mike that the security tapes copied over on a weekly basis or something of that nature. If they don't have any video, it is all basically "he said, she said" and I don't see how any DA in the country could get a conviction, guilty or not. On top of that, the girl was 20, had a fake ID confiscated in the same establishment weeks prior to this incident, and was intoxicated over a .20 BAC.

Roethlisberger should count his lucky charms on this one.

When I read about that on PFT the other day I let out a good laugh. I know Tebow means well, but he's got to understand, he's in the minority now. Not everyone will appreciate or care for how open he is about his religion or his opinion on certain issues. He needs to just keep it to himself and move on

Shut the fuck up - nobody has seen him play IN THE NFL YET. Pretty sure that Ryan Leaf had all the tools to be a hall of famer. Look how that panned out. What about Jeff George? Wasn't he supposed to set the league on fire?

Now consider this. Nobody in their right mind would have thought Tom Brady had the tools to be the quarterback that he is. While Tebow may not have the arm strength or accuracy that Brady does, I'm pretty sure his work ethic is there.

Or maybe I'm an asshole. After all, I thought that Mike Cherry was the future of the Giants for a few seasons.
