Let's just agree to disagree and say that Carson Palmer is the best QB in the NFL.

I was thinking about something today.
Do you think Marshall Faulk is a Hall of Fame canidate if he's never named a starter for a NFL team again? ( I personally think he's still a great running back ) |

Why would Marshall have to start again to be a candidate? He's like 33

Of the 11 in front of him, 2 are active (Martin & Bettis), 1 isn't eligible for the HOF yet (Smith) and one I'm pretty sure is, but hasn't been voted it (Thurman Thomas). The others are all in the HOF. He's 752yds from 6th, which if he sticks around as a backup for 2-3 years he could probably do. If not, he'll still be top 10 by years end. He's also in the top 20 (19) for Receptions. Will probably move up a few spots this year. So yeah, the combo gets him in. |

I don't see how him being a starter really affects his HoF ambitions? I mean, he's already pretty much proven himself, he could easily just retire now (or, what most people expected, whine about Jackson being the #1 and request a trade), but he hasn't... I think that if he continued backing up Jackson for like 3 more seasons, or just retired now, or did start somewhere else, he'd be a pretty good HoF candidate regardless

Without this forum and RPG's I would have no life, well actually I do have no life, but I can act like I'm a real man by editing people's post on a forum. Hey, remember the time, something happened to Testgal and I responded by having a hissy fit and yelling at all the female posters. Yeah, I was a real man that night, or at least that's what I keep telling my pillow to call me as I hump it.

Maybe eventually he's in. Depending on who's set to go in with him, I doubt he's first ballot.

I think he needs a couple of more very nice years to be a first ballot HoF. I could be wrong. I think it really depends on the impression he leaves when he finally leaves. Right now i dont heae anyone saying Faulk= HOF. No one has really talked about it. Maybe they think its a sure thing and they dont have to talka bout it ? Its definetly gunna be a future discussion . He's got one ring. He really only dominated the league maybe 3 years. He's got top 15 career stats. I just dont think of Marshall Faulk as a surefire hall of famer.

First Ballot, the top 10 rushing and top 20 rec combined does it for him.

Here's another question.
Given what he accomplished, do you think Terrell Davis should be inducted even though he didn't get to play long? |

Faulk is definitely in first ballot; Yes, I'm ready, Ferret; Davis will not make the Hall of Fame.

I think he should, but he probably won't. Atleast not for a while.
I remember a few years ago ESPN or something had asked the same thing and talked about how he had accomplished more than some of the RBs in the Hall already |

That's a tough call, he might make it due to them factoring injuries.
If you take his first 4yrs total the yds, avg is out he has 1,603yds/year So, over a 10 year career he'd have around 16,030yds. Of course everyone misses a few games, and his stats might have dropped, although anyone who runs in Denever goes over 1,000yds w/o blinking so I can't think there would be a huge drop. So, if healthy, he'd probably be 3rd possible even second all-time rushing. |

Here's a few more to think about (if some just aren't eligible yet, let me know, but I think everyone I'm listing is).
Andre Reed 4th all-time Receptions (16yrs) Art Monk 5th all-time recepetions (16yrs) Irving Fryar 7th all-time receptions (17yrs) Larry Center 8th all-time receptions (14yrs) Michael Irvin 16th (tied) all-time receptions (12yrs) Thurman Thomas 11th all-time rushing yds (13yrs) Rickey Watters 15th all-time rushing yds. (10yrs) The reason I put the yrs played is if we're taking into account players cut short by injuries, do you give more credit or take away players who are in the top 5, but took a long time to do it? or do we take away from players who quit when they could still play? |
