The Ravens have never lost a road playoff game outside of Pittsburgh and I dont think thats going to change on Saturday night.

Saw these tidbits on walterfootball:

"There have been three occasions in Peyton Manning's career where he has rested for two weeks. The Colts averaged just 19.3 points after that - a low number for a Manning-led squad - and all three of those games were losses."

"Now, Manning's in even more trouble because he perennially struggles against 3-4 defenses in the playoffs. Just check these numbers out: Manning has played in 15 postseason contests. Against 4-3 formations, he's 6-3 (and on a 6-0 run). But when going up against a 3-4 base, he's just 1-5, which includes a loss against the Billy Volek-led Chargers at home in 2007."

"Since 2005, seven teams have won a road playoff game in Round 1. Those seven teams are a perfect 7-0 against the spread in Round 2. That's amazing."

I know the last tidbit is for betting purposes only, but the Ravens are 7 point dogs, sorta like they were last year when they went into Tennessee and clobbered the Titans.

Colts To Rest Starters For First Game Of Playoffs

INDIANAPOLIS—At his weekly press conference Monday, Colts head coach Jim Caldwell announced that he will rest key starters during the divisional round of the AFC playoffs to keep his players fresh for a Super Bowl run. "You can't win the Super Bowl if you don't get there with all your players healthy," said Caldwell, who added that next Saturday quarterback Peyton Manning would probably get the first two series, which will mostly be comprised of running plays. "Dwight [Freeney] and Dallas [Clark] will get about a quarter in the AFC Championship game. But honestly, even if we make it to the Super Bowl, I can't see playing these guys the whole game. The 2010 season is closer than you think." Throughout the entire press conference Manning could be seen in full uniform, stalking and pacing in the back of the room.

I think it would have to be a REALLY bad start for him to not see out the year, but that's just me. If they start out like 0-3 or 0-4 or something I think he'll be gone and the Giants will hope they can somehow salvage something out of the season.

And even then, they'll just get an interim guy to fill out the year, cause I don't see Cowher coming in mid-season.

Cowher hasn't said it, but Jerome Bettis said in an interview that Cowher's told him several times that the Giants were always his ideal job and after a year off he was willing to go coach them in 2008...but of course the Giants won the Super Bowl in '07 instead so Coughlin got extended.

Given that Cowher and Bettis are close, you can put two and two together. Certainly a logical enough reason why Cowher's not returned to coaching yet despite getting offers.

According to wikipedia, in 1993 the Giants favored Reeves as their primary choice. It seems he won over management by actually lobbying hard for the job. Management then believes because Reeves went beyond the normal process, he showed he really cared about being their coach compared to just viewing it as a job.
