I'm sure that's part of it. John Cena being the top guy constantly does get a bit exhausting for some people, though. People even got sick of The Rock hovering around that spot too much.

That's more the fault of the way he's been booked at times being mundane. I think people understand though that Cena himself is pretty awesome and should be the top guy.

Booked to be that way or not, Cena does come off as mundane though.

I'm rewatching the ending of Raw again. and the one thing I take away from this awesome finish:
Daniel Bryan is fucking over as shit. Holy shit. I listen to how much love the crowd is giving DBry. Daniel Bryan is saving Wrestling right now. |

Bryan is definitely over, but let's not forget that he was in front of a "hometown" crowd that night. He's not as over as that EVERYWHERE. Still more than most, though.

Yeah, they were in Bryan's hometown, but the chants and the cheers for Bryan are pretty consistent. It's not the first time "Daniel Bryan!" chants have crashed a segment starring someone other than him.

I understand that this was a hometown crowd type of intensity, but Daniel Bryan has definitely endeared himself to the WWE Universe. |

I was cracking up when JBL was talking about the name Rybaxel and how he came up with it before the commercial break, then he was saying how stupid the name was when Cole brought it up after the break. Seemed Heenanesque, in a sense.

Yup, JBL has saved commentary on Raw. It was so much better without Lawler as well, they really need to find him something to host every week. Maybe re-open WWF New York and send him there.

Can't believe how over Bryan is, although of course it was pretty much a home-town crowd. Cena, however bland at times, surprised me with a promo right on the money, and his command of a live audience cannot be underestimated.
Even Blandy managed to get through his promo pretty well. I think we're heading into a very exciting Rumble - WM season! |

And the WWE should have known that would happen. As JR has alluded to, the WWE has been conducting market research with Daniel Bryan for some time. They put him out there in the main event segment in Seattle and he also won the Slammy. Plus they managed to turn Shawn fucking Michaels heel against him. Bryan will have something very important to do at WrestleMania XXX.

Random thought: I'd love to see Jerry Lawler as a heel manager. I'm not sure how much heat King can get in today's day and age, since he's so beloved and all, but Lawler managing the team of Curtis Axel & Ryback would make them instantly more interesting.

Couldn't help but think they could have got some more former champs to turn out for the Ascension Ceremony.
Backlund, Bruno, Austin, Edge, Slaughter, Flair, Dusty, etc. |

I do think that having a few more champs in there would have made the moment far more special. I hate to say it, but it felt like half the ring was filled with mid-carders.

Should have flown out Chris Jericho to cut a promo where he would be like "You're good kids, I've been where you are right now, fighting to be the undisputed champion.... only I had to do it in two matches in one night.... against two of the biggest stars ever.... but what you guys are doing is great!"

Authority should have brought in Dr. Shelby for a Dr. Shelby heel turn. Just have him talk about how Daniel Bryan is unstable and should not be the face of the WWE.

All while praising corporate Kane as his biggest success story. That would have been awesome.

Jericho grabbing the titles would be awesome. Even if he doesn't return to the WWE right away, and just takes them on tour with him everywhere he goes and uploads pictures onto Twitter.

Oh god I can't wait for the first Jericho promo on the (Jericho whiny voice) "Undisputed Champion" and how they can't hold a candle to the Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla!

Jericho should be returning in time for WrestleMania XXX, right? The paycheck and the quality of Jericho's performances make him a fairly solid lock for the event. It would make perfect sense for Jericho to immediately insert himself into the business of the Unified Champion. Whether it be face vs. face against Cena or face vs. heel against Orton, that seems like a fairly solid February PPV main event. They haven't changed it from Elimination Chamber yet, but maybe they will try out something new to get attention for it? Jericho could be cost the title match by a WrestleMania rival to set something up for his Mania appearance.
I guess Jericho could get pinned by someone in the Elimination Chamber leading to Jericho wanting to get revenge on them at the big stage though. |

Chris Jericho vs Dean Ambrose for the United States Championship
Feud is simple - what is the one title Chris Jericho has never held? The U.S. Championship, and fuel is added to the fire when The Shield crashes Jericho's return and beat the shit out of him for hogging the spotlight. Then, you have Ambrose lose his shit on Jericho to the point where Rollins/Reigns pull him off. He then gives his sick and sadistic grin while doing the Jericho/Cross pose. |

I wouldn't be opposed to Jericho even winning the US Title from Ambrose, cutting his reign just short of a year. If this happened at WrestleMania XXX, then Ambrose's reign with the US Title would fall 20 days short of MVP's 343 day run. That could be used as fuel to make the feud even more violent. The two could have a No Holds Barred Match at Extreme Rules, and they could just beat the living shit out of each other for 20 minutes. Imagine an ending where Jericho has Ambrose in the Walls of Jericho through the ropes and Ambrose has no way of escaping, before the rest of The Shield come out and lay out Jericho, allowing Ambrose to crawl into a cover and reluctantly get the three count with their assistance. That could lead to a Payback Steel Cage Match between the two, designed to keep Reigns & Rollins out. There, Ambrose could choke out Jericho using the ropes as a throwback to their Extreme Rules match and then climb out to retain the title and end his feud with Y2J. Then it'd be Money in the Bank time, and Dean Ambrose could be a good candidate to take that match, although it is likely he would lose to someone more imminently close to the main event scene. Maybe Jericho could even take out Ambrose from the match and they could try a double-turn of sorts in time for a HUGE SummerSlam blow-off between the two. Given that their submission holds wouldn't have won their a match against each other yet, perhaps they could even have a Submission Match to open SummerSlam or something like that? Jericho vs. Ambrose could be Feud of the Year. |

Watched Saturday Night Raw on Universal last night. Couldn't stop laughing on how the crowd pretty much hijacked the last segment and Cena and Orton went off script. Punk giggling in the background, Mark Henry trying to cool off the crowd.
Ol' Vinnie Mac probably was going ballistic backstage like the dirt sheets were saying. |
