It was a cool angle and I was impressed by AJ's ability to go from beloved face character who was actually kind of bland "depth" wise, to absolutely vicious way more interesting heel. (I liked AJ's straight laced face character but he was very by the book... which worked for him).
However, the only problem I foresee is what the whining Owens of the world do foresee. There's going to be some very generic superman booking... AJ may get one win with help from his homies, and then Cena will probably beat him AND the club in a bajillion on one handicap match and then they settle in as an entertaining and probably quite prevalent upper mid card act. I do believe the cream rises to the top and much like Kevin Owens at the very least AJ will be a go to guy, but not even being "down" on the booking or writing, it just isn't their (AJ) style(s) to run with a fun dominant heel act that isn't their own creation. They really believe that Cena/Reigns/Orton or whomever is super face de jour have to be kept strong unless HHH is the heel and it's in the early mid 2000s. Also, it is super cool that AJ has this opportunity at this point of his career to be featured agains Cena in such a high profile feud, whether he goes over or not. He will surely put on show after show, and I do think him making Roman look so good got him over with the top dogs who make the decisions. I am interested to see where it goes. What I don't look forward to is Stephanie aligning herself with OR castrating the club, but again, that's the booking style and we can just fast forward those parts

Cena's track record against 3 man stables doesn't bode well for the Club, unless a sexy Demon debuts

lol nor does his record against stables of over 4 men.
At some point, big match John needs to put his foot down and actually decide to REALLY put someone over strong. |

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic based on reports of the higher ups being big on AJ after his matches with Roman. This isn't a Bray or Rusev kind of thing. AJ is a very special talent beyond even those two.
Owens is the closest parallel but I don't think he was on AJ's level at that point. |

Also, AJ has come in and played some serious ball. He's put over Jericho, Reigns and Owens, and he's still mega over. Whereas Owens and Bray are still liked but not a "big deal" like AJ.

When they take the chains off Owens, he will shine just as much, if not more than AJ. He is so on top of his game both on and off screen it is silly. Dude just "gets it" and has "it".
The Start/Stop of the Wyatts has left me indifferent about them, which is fucking wank because they should be "booked" or w/e much better. That stable is one of the most unique things done in a while, like what they wanted Waylon Mercy to be but he just couldn't get to Wyatt's level. Needs to be a summer of Wyatts just unleashing hell on everyone and anyone. |

Owens is the best in the business right now. But politically, AJ hasn't gotten the signature "I beat John Cena clean" win and is still mega over, and he's pretty much done nothing but lose. I just feel, the office may see him as a big time team player but also having some potential as a draw.

As for AJ, would it be cool if he beat Cena at MITB and they end up on different shows via the Brand Split, with Cena unable to avenge the loss, and AJ bragging about it? Could drag it out to the first point they do a cross-brand programme, ideally they cross paths in the Rumble, perhaps with The Club helping dump Cena out, leading to a match at Mania.
