While the Red Sox starters didnt throw their best stuff this weekend I would still take them over anybody the Yankees are going to trot out there. If the Yankees don't make some type of changes to their rotation I can't see them making much noise in the post season

Yeah, the starting pitching situation is really spreading to the bullpen because they are pitching so much. Wang is back tomorrow so thats a huge plus for the pen; he will be miles better than any one of those other guys we sent out there.

Gotta agree with Stima though if we can't get a solid rotation or eve a solid core of 3 or 4 starters we're gonna do nothing in the post season again, assuming we get there.

Wow, just heard on Mike and the Mad Dog that Phil Hughes will pitch Thursday against Toronto. Haven't seen anything else about it though so who knows if it is happening yet. I know we are having troubles but I really wasn't expecting him to be up this early. I'm guessing its just one or two starts unless he does really well.
Kind of suprised, a lot of people were saying he isn't ready yet and to take him slow. I can't wait to see him pitch, but I hope people don't expect too much out of his first start though. Last edited by Dragon; 04-23-2007 at 06:57 PM. |

Yeah, I dunno. Kind of have a bad feeling about bringing him up so soon. They were limiting his pitches in AAA so they obviously won't let him go deep into a game.
Just yesterday on the Yankees site they were saying how Hughes will be down in AAA until at least the all-star break and now he is up now. Should be intereting. |

He got rocked in spring training and hasn't looked too great in AAA so far. Kind of worried...

They said they weren't gonna rush him, but Cashman and Torre have both said its a necessity to have him up right now. I think they should have went to someone else for now.
Ohlendorf was the kid we got in the RJ trade and he was supposed to be competing for a spot on the D-Backs team I thought so bringing him up would have made more sense. |

I don't think it's that bad of an idea to bring Hughes up. I mean what's the worst that could happen?

Not bad Robbie Cano.
I'm kinda surprised that he hasn't changed back to #22. I've heard nothing from Clemens. He'd probably get mad money right now if he decided to come back. |

Is that why he changed to #24? I figured it was a tribute to Jackie Robinson (42 reversed) since he is named after him

Igawa better hook up with Wang and show him some pointers. I got faith in the guy, he just needs to build himself up, gain confidence, etc.
Henn is back in. I pray Pettite don't go triple duty. Damn, Posada had that. |

Blue Jays giving it to the Sox right now, that 2 run homer in the top of the 9th didn't help
Have left way too many runners on base tonight |

The Yankees were not great in April last year and were beyond terrible the year before. So, I'm not concerned at all. They'll put it together in May.

About time the Jays win a game again. They had lost 5 in a row. The Jays have been lacking the HR power so far this year.
(hey, the Canucks just scored to tie Dallas )

No idea why Torre pinch-hit Damon for Phelps (who has HR power) and not Melky in the 8th. Phelps has been hitting the ball pretty hard lately. Kind of ruined that rally.

About Hughes though I think it's to early to bring him up I say we should let him have one game. He's gonna be better then Igawa, Karstens, and Wright, that's for sure. Last edited by Hardkore Kidd J; 04-24-2007 at 07:05 AM. |

It is too early to decide who is better between the Red Sox and Yankees. However, If I was a Yankee fan I still wouldn't feel too comfortable even with the guys coming off the DL into the rotation. I'd also be a bit worried about the most used bullpen in the majors.
I'm gonna assume Schilling and Matzusaka's performances against the Yankees will not be the norm, I thought Beckett did alright..pretty sure he only gave up 3 ER |

Awful. Wang actually gets into the 7th inning and was looking kind of tired so he is taken out with 2 men on.
Later on in the inning, bases loaded, lefty Crawford up. We bring in our big time lefty specialist Mike Myers...and Crawford gets a grand slam. Mike Myers has got to be one of the worst lefty specialists I've seen. He actually holds righties to a lower average and everytime he comes in to do his job, it usually ends up bad. An example is every single time he faces Ortiz. |

Typical Yankee game for 2007: Chein Mang Wang comes out of game with a 17-1 score against the Royals in the 8th inning and Luis Visciano/ Kyle Farnsworth/ Mike Myers etc.etc. blows the game by letting the Royals tack on 17 runs. I know I'm being phesecious but it seems like every game we have the starters do a good job and then the relievers come in and blow the save. |

Nah, the starters have been awful as well. Besides Pettitte actually. Wang is the first starter to get to the 7th in a while it seems.
Another questionable move though. Bases loaded, 1 out and we take out the pitcher that produces the most double plays and ground balls? I dunno, he was looking a little tired but he had the best chance of getting out of that inning. Or at least bring in a rested Henn. Myers is probably the worst situational lefty to bring in. |

Whoa fucking awesome game tonight. Damion Easley game-tying HR with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the bottom of the 10th and Endy Chavez ends it with a perfect drag bunt in the 12th.

OMG the JAYS are the best in the East.
-doesn't it work like that I mean the Red Sox swept the Yankees and suddenly everyone is aghast at how dominant they are. Now the Jays do it to the Red Sox and I hear nothing.I don't expect them to be talked as the best team. Come on, there's a ton of baseball left to play this season people. |
