So, by your own logic, when WCW lead the ratings against WWE for 83 consecutive weeks..nearly 2 years...you weren't a REAL wrestling fan because you didn't watch the "biggest" and "best" company. The fact that you were totally willing to watch wrestling's "2nd best company" during that time automatically discredits your opinion on the quality of wrestling today. Why should anyone take your opinion seriously? Clearly you were willing to sit through WWE "shit" back then and not even realize it. You are obviously not a good gauge for wrestling "quality", sorry. It's not my opinion, your own "logic" proves this to be correct.

I can't nearly follow up effectively to Arnold's post, but I will say this:

You said the Sliced Bread #2 is not innovative because it starts off the same way as the Dudley Dog? What the fuck? The 619 starts off like every single "running the ropes" move in WWE history. Stone Cold Steve Austin did a boot scrape type thingy on the ropes, as did Jericho. The Big Boss Man also used to start off liek that when he did a baseball slide and hit the opponent. Mark Henry does a move that starts off in the same way as the 619.

You're speaking bullshit if you claim the Shiranui is the same as a tornado ace crusher because it starts off in the same way, then call the 619 is different and "innovative".

Indcedentally, I think WCW would have died sooner without WWE around, so I dispute the notion that the WWF killed WCW. Their biggest boosts fed off one another. WWE wouldn't even make a "Monday Night Wars" DVD if they didn't end up on top in the end. ignore the obvious reason, the end result is the same. If they hadn't STOPPED dominating Raw after 83 weeks, it never would be brought up. WWE likes to write themselves as the strongman.

As such, they will make claims of doing more than they do, but never less. If WWE felt they had some more instrumental role in the death of WCW or ECW, they would have bragged that all over the MNW and RAFoECW discs. Why?

Because not even Vince Fucking McMahon is going to say that shit. And he takes credit for a lot.

Regardless, even WWE contradicts Vermaat, so whether you agree with me that without the WWF, WCW would have tanked sooner (Without that competition, the markets would have dried up fast), the one thing we can all agree on is that Vermaat IS wrong, because this may be speculation, but his claims are decimated by statements.

Yeah, it was such a great time to be a wrestling fan back then. You had the MNW competition which pushed WWE to improve it's product because for the first time ever they got their ass kicked. And WWE developed the Attitude Era partially because they stole ideas from ECW. Those three wrestling companies created the "Perfect Storm."

It's unfortunate that we will probably not live to see that happen again. Something needs to spark a sense of urgency in WWE, otherwise wrestling fans will continue to suffer. The scary thought is what if WCW had successfully run WWE out of business, as they were so close to doing? There would have been no Attitude Era...and arguably, no mainstream wrestling today. I watched WCW from it's beginning to it's end and there's no way that company would still be around today, in my opinion. The sole purpose of that companies existence was to eliminate WWE. Once that had happened, the company didn't have strong enough leadership to continue to stay afloat this long. Hell, at the end Flair, Benoit and Mean Gene talk about how 5 minutes before Nitro went on the air, they didn't have a run sheet as to what the hell was going on. WCW was it's own worst enemy.

VErmaat's wrong, just not as wrong as you seem to think.

First off, Hurricane's been around since the Rock was around, and that kind of makes it moot. His just doesn't count, nor is it really all that good. Boogeyman's is shit. JBL's is decent, Carlito's is (But the "spit or Swallow" one is better), and Kennedy's...Well, it gets people chanting along. Much like Christian's "That's how I roll," which probably should have been included.

Still, none of these compare to the Rock's phrases.

But then again, Neither does Cena.
