True but what are they going to do? It seems pretty clear that he's made up his mind now, if they don't take what's on offer they'll get nothing when he sits out the final year of his deal.

Having said that, it is sort of karma for how ridiculously cheap they signed Kewell from Leeds for.

Everyone went on about how Beckham would flop in Madrid and how playing alongside the likes of Zidane and Figo would show him up to be an ordinary player.

I reckon Owen will flop in Madrid

Aslong as they dont start playing him in a different position or something like they did with Beckham so he ends up playing shite for England. I don't care. It could be good for England.

How many midfielders do Chelsea have these days?

Ultimately Liverpool got a good deal.

Owen is streaky. Sure he'll score 5 in 6 games but then he'll get injured or go 10 games without a goal.

He's pretty money-obsessed. Liverpool lost McManaman on a free so why run the risk of it happening again? It was clear that he wasn't going to sign a new contract.

And yeah MotD is still pretty shite when it comes down to it. At least they're laying on an additional Sunday program instead of just making people wait until the next Saturday lunchtime to see 30 seconds of the rest of the weekend's games.

Also, why did ITV have to put the Championship main program on so early on a Sunday morning?

I wouldn't take Owen. Not over Ruud or Louis Saha. I would take Morientes over Owen any day.

Decent enough performance by United considering we barely had any players. Like Fergie said it will take until about October to see the real Man U when we have Ronaldo, Ruud, Saha and Rio back.

I have to agree with Rob herre, Owen would be more then loved at United

Woooo, on the plus side we won, on the bad side Eidur Gudfuckingjohnsen scored the goal , the fat shit didnt do anything else all match, yet again he was afraid to jump for anything, and one time when he lost it he ran to get it back, other then that he looked like the bloated dickhead he was last season.

On the plus side Alexei Smertin is the man , he is only the second player (Zola being the first Vs Everton April 2003) who the Chelsea fans have given a standing ovation to after doing something good on the park, cannot fault the guy, if he plays like that all season he will be great. How Terry got man of the match is beyond me, Smertin was the fucking man, my Man Of The Match by a mile. All I could hear from people around me was stuff like "Smertin is quality" and stuff.

yeah Smertin is a legend and we taught him everything he knows I wish you'd kept Ranieri instead of your dickhead manager who picks players based on ability instead of reputation so we could have kept Smerts and you could have kept wasters like Crespo

But i hope he does well for you because he was a big part of the reason we stayed up and he is THE MAN

Also, Arsenal are reporting Real to FIFA for "destablising" Vieira while he was under contract because "the rules are there to be respected." Didn't hear them harping on about that when they did the exact same thing to ruin our deal with Michael Carrick. Dickheads.

Fair deal for Owen I reckon all talk of 10mil plus Morientes would have been absolutely stupid on Real's part considering they could wait around and get him for free.
