Well the Giants don't really fit into the whole "Cali thing" because he was from the LA area if I'm not mistaken. SoCal and NoCal are pretty different. I'm not saying the Giants have no chance or aren't going for him, but I think what people refer to is the Dodgers and Angels.

Yea that's true. Its still closer then most places though.
Like I said before that might not even be a factor at all, everyone assumes it is but I am starting to doubt it. I just think SF will pick him up, or maybe even the White Sox, but for some reason I don't see him saying with the Cubs. |

I can't see the White Sox doing that. They only pick up guys that have no chance of helping them, for example Roberto Alomar and Carl Everett two years in a row. They looked like they were getting somewhere with Freddy Garcia...but nah...

I don't follow the NL closely, but what's the SS situation in SD? That might be a good fit for him. |

Also, I can't see the Cubs losing a contract duel with their cross town rivals. I guess there are plenty of shortstops on the market this year, but they probably aren't going to get a guy better than Noma.

I would have liked the Cards and Dodgers to meet in the NLCS. Both should be good series' though.

Did I read correctly on ESPN.com when they said the Yankees are facing Minnesota in the playoffs because the Twins "blew their home field advantage" with a split to Cleveland? I always thought it was the team with the best record against the wild card team, and the other two division leaders against each other. How is home field advantage determined?

![]() ![]() Also, I think the Giants ARE planning on spending some more money this off season than usual - but I don't think they're in the market for Nomar (as great as it would be). The infield is already crowded (Feliz and Snow can't keep platooning), so there may be some internal movement first. Deivi Cruz was pretty money this year, but he's not in the long term plans. Feliz will probably start at third, with Alfonso possibly moving to Shortstop... But hopefully that won't happen - they should rid themselves of that shitty player. I heard the Giants were trying tog et Jermaine Dye, which doesn't make sense seeing as how they already have 203498 shitty role playing outfielders on the roster. But it's time to make some bold moves, i'm just waiting to see if they're the right ones. ![]() ![]() |

Also, I hate every single NL team in the playoffs this year, and I strongly dislike most of the AL teams in the playoffs this year.
Go Boston. |

I just want Sox/Yanks again. That should be the World Series match up. It should just end there.

Hey Hero, Remember before the season we disagreed on Vazquez, I called him a NL pitcher who wouldn't do as well in the AL, you disagreed...
here's his stats... who was right? SEASON TEAM W L ERA G GS CG SHO IP H R ER HR HBP BB SO 2001 Expos 16 11 3.42 32 32 5 3 223.2 197 92 85 24 3 44 208 2002 Expos 10 13 3.91 34 34 2 0 230.1 243 111 100 28 4 49 179 2003 Expos 13 12 3.24 34 34 4 1 230.2 198 93 83 28 4 57 241 2004 Yankees14 10 4.91 32 32 0 0 198.0 195 114 108 33 11 60 150 Career Totals 78 78 4.26 224 223 16 6 0 --- 1427.1 1430 733 676 188 42 391 1226 I don't count wins, when you pitch for a hitting team like the yanks (same thing for Sox pitchers) ERA, SO, IP, Hits, ER... |

I do remember us having that discussing...Well he's way better than his numbers showed this year. I don't know what to say about him. Big stage maybe? 'another weaver' But yeah, until he rebounds next year 'or whatever', you've got me.

In the NL, you normally face 8 hitters and a pitcher and a lot of NL teams are built on speed/defense and you tend to face 5-7 real "hitters". Where the AL, not just do you face a DH, but a DH is normally a .290+ 25HR+ type guy, so not just is it another hitter, it's a big power guy. That was what I based my prediction off of. Plus, if it's an pitcher going to the AL East, it's even worse because there going to have teams like Boston and/or NY to deal w/ a few times a year, plus other AL teams like Angels, Baltimore. |
