Scored a fantastic goal and won the group though.

I think England will fare better against teams that actually want to play a bit, they were a lot better against Sweden because Sweden didn't have everyone behind the ball, camped in their own penalty area.

The same goes for all the big teams, like Brazil who "haven't performed" yet. Once they get into the knockout rounds and face teams that aren't really set up to defend and then hit them on the break, they'll perform better cos the quality players will have more space and time on the ball in the final third.

Players like Joe Cole/Ronaldinho will have time to find a pass and players like Rooney/Ronaldo will have space to make a run and get a shot away, without having to try and get past 11 Trinidadians/Croats standing on the goal line.

I have been saying that about Lampard for ages, especially when anyone comes out with bollocks about him being the best midfielder in Europe. He's not even the best midfielder in the England team.

Yes he scores fuck loads of Chelsea cos he NEVER has to track back cos Makelele is defending for him, so he can sit on the 18 yard line and have about 10 shots, 1 of which normally takes a deflection and goes in. It mystifies me why people still give him so much space there.

But some how he still manages to score a stupid amount for a midfielder, so fair play.

YES...Graham Poll is the referee for the Australia-Croatia game. I would gladly take ANY English referee that knows most of our players, than some fucked up Egyptian cunt or a Nazi-style German arsehole. That bald English cunt Mike Riley refereed the Australia-Greece game and while he was useless at least he made shit calls for both sides. The Egyptian and German refs so far in Oz's games have made bullshit calls against Australia. Whilst the results against Japan and Brasil haven't been affected by ref decisions, the game tomorrow against Croatia may be.

Anyway good news that we have a Pom doing the game for us. Who knows what the result will be, probably a draw but you never know. The Croats are going to be fired up though.

Look I've gone to fiery games between South and the Knights and gone to the pubs with guys like them. I've travelled to their ground with Rob a few times, fucking intimidating as all hell but it's fine. Big fucken deal they get fired up you just ignore them. You mind your own business and they do the same. Real football fans - both Aussies and Croats - know this but the Marios and Rednecks on both sides will be the wankers starting trouble (if any occurs of course). These cunts should all be shot immediately.

Anyway hopefully if there ARE brawls then both Marios and rednecks smash each other up and then the cops come in with the batons and beat the shit out of all of them. Let the football do the talking not the bullshit off the field! And I can't wait for the media to have a field day tomorrow focussing on events off the pitch rather than those on it (even if there's no trouble)

I forgot to add - this country would probably have to be one of very few in the world where 2 different sets of supporters can (most of the time) watch a full-on World Cup game for competition points and get along with no trouble. There were great scenes with the Greeks in the friendly, then the Japs, then the Brasilians, hopefully the Croats are respectful too. I know the vast majority will definately be, let's hope the 5% of fuckwits they have also behave.

The Croats should take a leaf out of the Greeks' book. Out of 95,000 people at that friendly I would say 30,000 were supporting Greece passionately, but after the game clapped off the Aussie team and wished them luck in Germany. If the Croats get knocked out tonight their supporters here should all do the same!

As far as Italy go, well Camoranesi and Totti were particularly disappointing, Camoranesi wasted every ball he got, Totti wasted some great chances. Cannavaro was solid as usual, we could do with a guy like him in our fuckin defence!
