The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have signed Indianapolis Colts restricted free agent cornerback Jason David to an offer sheet. Terms of the offer sheet were undisclosed. The announcement was made by Saints' Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

David, 24, has started 43 regular season games for the Colts after being selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. The product of Washington State University has appeared in all 48 regular season games while also starting all six postseason games that the Colts have played since 2004, including the Colts' Super Bowl XLI victory over the Chicago Bears. In regular season play, David has collected 147 career tackles (125 solo stops) with eight interceptions for 65 yards (8.1 yards per return average) with a long return of 34 yards (2004) and one touchdown. Additionally, the Canadian-born (Edmonton, Alberta) David, who grew up in Covina, Ca., has recovered three fumbles during his first three seasons on the professional level while also seeing spot duty as a punt returner (9-50-5.6 avg.).
As a collegian at Washington State, David was a three-year starter for the Cougars who started his final 35 games in his 44-game career. He collected 128 career tackles in addition to 16 interceptions for 316 yards, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 36 passes defensed. He set a school mark for career interceptions (16) and touchdowns via interception returns (three).


Under the terms of the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Colts have seven days to match the terms and conditions of the Saints' offer. If Indianapolis elects not to match New Orleans' offer, they would receive the Saints' fourth-round draft choice (#126 overall) as compensation.
So the Colts have lost both their starting corners..

 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 20, 2007) -- Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones bought a full-page newspaper advertisement to print an open letter in which he promised to regain trust of his team and fans.
In the advertisement in the sports section of Friday's editions of The Tennessean -- Nashville's daily newspaper -- Jones told his family, coaches, teammates and Titans fans he must reorganize his priorities.
"In the past few weeks, I have learned a lifetime of lessons," the letter states.
Jones writes of hoping to not only meet, but exceed the expectations people have of him.
"The first step in meeting these goals is for me to stop making the poor choices that have put me in this position," the letter reads.
Jones is appealing his season-long suspension by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Cincinnati receiver Chris Henry, a teammate of Jones at West Virginia, also was suspended. But Henry received an eight-game ban.
In his letter, Jones said his attorneys advised him to appeal the suspension to "clarify some of the facts and address the unprecedented punishment that was imposed."
Jones said he plans to re-enroll at West Virginia University and finish his degree.
The sixth pick overall in the 2005 draft and the first defensive player taken that year, Jones has talked with police 10 times since being drafted, and been arrested five times. He has not been convicted of any charge since being drafted.
But Las Vegas police want to charge Jones for inciting a fight at a strip club on Feb. 19 that led to a triple shooting. Jones also did not inform the Titans of two arrests in Georgia last year, and a felony obstruction charge for allegedly biting a Fayetteville, Georgia, police officer was delayed until May.
Titans owner Bud Adams has said team officials weren't sure they want Jones back unless he changes his behavior and avoids controversy off the field.
I hope he realizes this will not help his cause.. Goodell is making an example of him..

Right, I'm no Saints expert. Is Colston good enough to be the #1 guy in Norleans? Going by numbers, I'm guessing yes but I saw like 3 catches of his last season, I figure he'll get more attention next year etc

David Patten
Micheal "Beerman" Lewis

Colston is the shit.. Devery is a big, fast third year guy outta LSU.. He had a breakout game against the Falcons when Horn was hurt last year.. I don't know alot about Jones, but I think Payton brought him (with Terrance Copper) from the Cowboys.. Copper had those two horrible fumbles late in the Steelers (I think) game last year.. That kinda hurt him with die hard fans.. After that he made some huge catches for us.. David Patten is a quality player who played for the Pats in all three of their last Super Bowl apprearances.. We picked him up after Horn left because our young squad needs a veteran leader.. Plus he was a good addition to the depth chart.. "Beerman" is mainly a return guy because he's pretty small but he can play the slot.. He is the man though.. A Vince Papale "living the dream" type guy.. He didn't play college ball and walked on after delivering beer around NOLA for 13 years.. He's been hurt the past couple of years and it wouldn't suprise me if he gets cut because that was rumored all last season.. I would be dissapointed though..

You have to think about the fact that we have the most versitile offensive player in the league right now in Reggie Bush.. Payton plays him at wide out alot..

Also, we have 6 picks in the first 4 rounds of the draft.. I know we need to fill spots on the D, but it wouldn't suprise me if they go after a WR in like, the fourth round..

Yeah now that they've addressed the corner situation they can definitely do that, if they want. Although tbh I'd want a nickel back maybe through the draft cause Fred Thomas should never again see an NFL field.

They resigned him.. I dunno why.. He got burned on pretty much every big play team had against us.. Deuce told me he lost his confidence..

Maybe we should go after Dwayne Bowe in the first round, but I think another corner would serve us well..

The saints are still gonna get owned by us. I cant wait till week 7 and 14. If we draft someone like Gaines Adams or w/e then Brandon Meriweather the saints are in for a whoopin.
