yeah, Clemens gets a pro-rated 28mil, the Red Sox offered like 18 and were under the impression they had a week to make a 2nd offer.
I would have liked to see him in a Sox uni, simply to see him "come home", but the Sox really don't have a SP need right now. He will help the Yanks, but I wouldn't bet on a huge turn around. Clemens is only good for 5 maybe 6 IP and the Yanks Pen has as many issues as the starting rotation, plus he's staring like a month earlier then he did last year. I forget the pitchers name, but someone who retired at 45, said his arm was fine and his head was fine but his legs couldn't do that they did and thats where the power comes from.. we'll see if that effects Clemens. |

Clemen's was going to the Yankees from the start though. His ties to the Red Sox are sooo old, and they didn't need him (as much, cause I mean come on, any team could use him).
But he was a Red Sock so long ago, even though he was arguably at his best there, his ties are all to the city of Houston and the New York Yankees. He had most of his team success in New York and he still is close with Pettite, Torre, Jeter etc. For him to go full circle and return to the Red Sox would kind of stab a lot of friends and fans in the back. I mean, after dominating with the Yankees for so many years, there can't be many Boston Clemen's fans left are there? But I'm sure there are tonns in New York. |

Word is his agents moved up the start date even though he's not ready yet because it's the only way they'd get the 28mil, that Houston had said they wouldn't give him the "flex schedule" he had. I hope he makes the Yankees better and the word is he can make his debut the begining of June vs. the Red Sox... I mean, you couldn't make better TV if you wrote it! |

I think Clemens will hold up fine because he has always been on a tough workout regimen for his legs but I don't see the rest of the Yankees staff/bullpen holding up throughout the season.

Sick of Roger Clemens, who does he think he is. Every year he is just like nah I will play for whoever I want and I will hog all the money of that team and I won't start until the middle of the season

Hmmmm. Interesting.
Watching Sportscenter just now and on the ticker it said that Joe Torre is suspended for tonight's game. Scott Proctor suspended 4. Reason being for the bench clearing near fight yesterday. Don't see any Mariners suspended. Here's the story. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2863179 Also, Kei Igawa has been sent to the minors. It was for the game yesterday.
Josh Phelps ran over their catcher when he wasn't blocking the plate and didn't have the ball. Next time up to bat for Phelps he gets hit and rightfully so. Then when Proctor came in he threw behind one of the Mariners and was ejected. |

Wow, today's game started out great until that 8th inning.
Matt DeSalvo pitches 7 innings of 1 run ball. Then in the 8th the ump makes one of the worst calls I've ever seen at 2nd base, the runner was out by a good two feet. That run then scores to tie up the game. 9th inning Mo gives up a home-run. I know bad calls are a part of baseball but this call wasn't even close at all. Awful. |

I've seen a call like that in the same position during a Sox game a few years ago except the guy never tagged Nomar and was about 2 feet away. I assume the ump was blocked by the players back and couldn't see the tag at all, in the Red Sox just assumed he made the tag and called him out...and in this case didn't want to assume anything?
Still pretty awesome Riveria lost another game though |

I dunno, it showed an angle from the umps view and it was pretty obvious. Guessing the guy just wasn't paying that much attention.
Also, starting to kind of see where Philly fans were coming from when they talked about Bobby Abreu before. All I heard was that he was kind of lazy in the outfield and afraid to swing the bat at times. Didn't really see it last year but its happened this year. He doesn't go out of his way to make catches in the outfield at all and is scared of running into the wall most of the time. He also prefers to bunt in most situations instead of swinging the bat lol. I know he is in a pretty big slump right now and I'm sure he'll be fine this season but I do get where Phillies fans were coming from before. |

Yeah I just saw the replay myself, pretty bad call but at normal speed it wasn't AS obvious as it was when it slowed down, but still should have made that one.

Also, for "hog all the money" trust me, the teams who were bidding on him won't be hurting from spending the money and the whole part-time schedule not just do the teams signing him allow it, the players go along with it. I can't fault Roger for this one... i mean, if you could be one of the top 5 highest paid at your job and only work part of the year, and even then only part-time, why wouldn't you? |

Also, is it Clemens fault how much and what they want to spend money on? Who's ever told a job "no, that's ok, you don't need to give me more money". Plus, in Houston it's not just trying to win like Boston or New York, Houston he helped put buts in the seats. |

I'm just saying that in Houston is doesn't make sense to put down that much money for one player. In New York and Boston it is nothing special, but in Houston, if they have 20+ million to spare they should be buying two or three good players for a whole season instead of one for half a season.

I am gonna assume I knew this previously and just simply forgot or something Pretty dumb they changed the name from SkyDome to the Rogers Centre, I mean I can understand why they did it but the name "SkyDome" was pretty bad ass. And another thing, they really gotta change the layout of the turf they use. You can clearly see the square patterns and it looks real shitty, I know why they use that style (a lot more mobile) but it looks horrible. |

Marketing bullshit, you know. As for the turf, I wish they could get some time of real grass in there, but the Rogers Center is used by tons of groups so I guess real grass wouldn't work. This turf they've got is the new improved stuff, but yeah you are right, you can see it for what it really is.

I don't mind the FieldTurf so much, its just the fact it looks like there is 1000 rectangles of turf all over the field...I've never really noticed that in other parks (I know its definitely not like that in Minnesota, where the Red Sox just played the other night)
