Hmmm... Just noticed that Hurricane's not on this year's roster. I never played him, but it was fun to have a few oddball characters to beat up. And where's Jamie Noble? Former cruiserweight champ (and they never fail to mention that fact every Smackdown), and still he's yet to make it on a video game roster. Strange that the WWE now boasts two full rosters and the lineup seems to get smaller every year.

I still think the WWE would do best to let the Legends have their own WWE-licesnced videogame. Twice the profit, and all that.

two new pics found, one is The British Bulldog when he was in the game and the other shows his and Kurt Angles stats

An extended interview from the EGM cutting room floor

EGM: It's called Smackdown! vs. Raw, so can I assume the two shows are gonna play a major factor in the story mode? If so, how?
Cory Ledesma, Associate Producer: The showdown between the two brands will be a major theme in all aspects of the game including Season mode, front end menus, voice over and gameplay. As far as storylines goes, without giving away too much, there will definitely be clashes between the two brands that will result in epic battles.

EGM: Are you bringing back WWE writers to create original storylines again?

Ledesma: We work closely with the WWE and their writers to find out what directions they are taking with their Superstars and their storylines. This definitely serves as the underline foundation for what we do. The emphasis has been put on creating storylines that are completely original as well as putting our own spin on some past great WWE storylines. This unique blend of storylines will satisfy WWE fans while delivering a compelling and rewarding experience.

EGM: Online -- it's gonna make it into this version, right?

Ledesma: It is being strongly considered.

EGM: What's the real focus of this year's game? What distinguishes it from last year's product and the rest of the competition?

Ledesma: Our focus this year has been a major undertaking. We are completely overhauling the key areas of the game including gameplay, Season mode, graphics and audio. Detailed features for each of the game areas will be announced shortly. We are very excited about SmackDown Vs. Raw. It is the biggest leap we have made from one year to another.

EGM: Any other T&A besides the bra and panty matches?

Ledesma: Pushing the T&A factor is one of the big focuses for this year. Our goal is to increase the overall sex appeal and quality of our Diva models as well as their sexy animations. We want our consumers to get really excited about seeing and playing with our Divas. The increased Sex Factor will be apparent from when the game boots up, to the new Diva Spanking mechanic in Bra and Panty matches and all the way to storylines rewarding you with scoring with the Divas. Also, additional "T&A" elements will be rewarded this year to users in the form of unlockables.

EGM: How many wrestlers total? Any more wrestling legends?

Ledesma: WWE SmackDown Vs. Raw will have a roster of over 45 WWE Superstars from both the Raw and SmackDown brands. There will also be some of the biggest legend names to unlock.

According to gamefaqs 31st December, however they've given a lot of games that date, when they think it's going to be out at the end of the year, but not sure when exactly.

It's the Rob Harvey's in the world that I feel sorry for. The possibility of recreating the Bulldog/Bret Hart match at Summerslam 92 has been cruelly taken from us all.

It starts today.


The onslaught of wrestling game footage, from your favorite stars to the best finishers in the game. And not just any game, but the wrestling game everybody's been waiting for: WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw.

And what better way to kick things off than to feature a match between two of the WWE's best performers. Two guys everyone always wanted to see feud but never thought they'd actually get to see. Two guys where it doesn't matter who is the face and who is the heel…all that matters is that they're in the ring together and are about to bring the house down with the electricity and excitement few others can match.

We're talking Edge vs. Chris Jericho.

What started out as friendship is about to turn ugly, so we decided to see what would happen when the two are pitted against each other in the virtual ring.

You'll see first hand, not only the bitter feud, but the new weighted-weapons system, meaning the weight of the stairs is calculated into picking them up. You'll see a few finishers, some high flying, and in the end, one man's hand is raised.

And just to keep with the boos Edge has been hearing lately, we even made his character fight a little dirty.

Right after watching those videos a few points:

Jericho had to work really hard to get his Face meter to go up, and it went down really easily, Edge on the other hand got his up quite quickly.

The crowd were rather fickle, but overall quite good, as was the commentary which didn't get annoying.

Licensed soundtrack = Although I think it will be changed as I heard a couple of motherfuckings in that 3rd video.

The hits do seem to have a lot more impact, and also Jericho "working" to pick up the steel steps was good, although seconds later he did manage to throw them across the ring quite easily.

Also what's up with the last 20 seconds being blacked out?

Oh and one of Jericho's finishers being a running ensurguri (sp?)?

Was still worth watching though, thanks for the links

Just seen the Jericho vs Edge match, pretty interesting. Like the licenced music and glad with Jericho's new finisher. Wonder if the lionsault is one of his normal moves now?

It does seem that its going to be easier to be a heel in this game rather than a face. Everytime Jericho used the ladder his face meter went down, even though people normally cheer faces when they use weapons. There is only a certain number of times you can hit highflying moves and sucessfully finish a taunt.

Just noticed, if you're a face and kick out of a pin, it adds to your face meter, thats pretty cool.

at screwjob ending, do they not want us to know who would win this match?

Pretty good set of clips there, cant wait for tonights updates.

BTW those pictures were from the OPM2 magazine posted awhile back.

here's a new play of the day, this one features The Nature Boy Ric Flair vs Shelton Benjamin

When I asked Shelton Benjamin about the chest chop, all he could do was laugh. "I took a lot of chops and let me tell you, they hurt like hell. There's nothing like everyone in the crowd shouting 'Woo' as he chops at your chest. I don't care what anyone thinks, that he's just slapping your chest or whatever, but those chops hurt. If the marks on my chest are any indication, those chops are more than just slaps. My chest is starting to throb just thinking about it."

In honor of the chest chop, we decided to put together a video of Shelton taking on the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

There were plenty of chops delivered, a figure-four, and even a look at the way you're able to reverse submission holds through a timing meter at the top of the screen.

Can Benjamin beat the legend or does the dirtiest player of the game still have something left for the youngster?
