I dunno. I'm still not sold on Flacco though. He played a great game but we have to go through this "elite" debate all over again. If every QB was drafted again, Flacco wouldn't go in the top 10. Maybe not even the top 15.

I think this is technically possible.

Say two teams go into OT tied at 32...

Team A kicks a FG. 35-32

I have little doubt the 49ers will be hoisting a Lombardi within the next 3 years. They just have a fantastic core of players and should be right in the thick of the chase for quite some time.

I think he'd go top 15. As far as being "elite," in the moment I say yes (especially given his play in the postseason) but in a day or two I may retract that.

He has vastly improved over the past few seasons though, which certainly should get him a little more props.

The hot minute Mike Nolan was coaching the '9ers, he got fined several times because (wait for it) HE WORE A FUCKING SUIT AND TIE! God forbid he look like a professional on the sideline. I mean, Bill Bellichick dresses like a goddamn vagabond, but it's sanctioned team apparel, so it's okay to have your team spearheaded looking like a bum. It took awhile for Addidas to come along and actually tailor some suits, and by that time, he was on his way out the door.

On to today:

I noticed Gore's socks were pretty much in the same fashion he was fined for, and not a single fuck was given on Super Bowl Sunday.

Sucks they lost. At least it put to bed the conspiracy theorists who were already foaming up about San Fran coming back after the power outage. Nevermind the dropped passes, fumbles, and missed tackles by the Ravens in the second half and Kapernick stepping up instead of beating himself in the head and taking himself out of the game from nerves.

Valliant effort, but Flacco is a guy who's been there. For all intents and purposes, Kap's basically a rookie QB who got to make a run for the biggest game in the land. Not a bad run for a kid who came out of nowhere and stepped up as opposed to just being a flash-in-the-pan who makes Alex Smith worry about losing his job for about 2 games, then fizzles out.

Good effort, but not enough.

I bet Droford is kind of lost now that his team has won the whole thing. He can't make ridiculous statements any more. He must be hating this. I didn't think they'd beat the Broncos. But come on, who would pick against them after they had won 11 straight going in and the Ravens had a rocky December. I thought they would beat the Patriots and win the Super Bowl after that win though. I wouldn't look at it as a case of nobody gave the Ravens any chance because that's simply not true. It's just that most people and pundits will naturally pick the top seeds to win because it's an easy and safe choice. It happens every year. It's no vendetta or lack of respect towards your Ravens. They got hot when it mattered and now they're getting all the respect that they deserve, but they weren't going to have much confidence behind them when they finished 10-6 and lost 4 of their last 5 games going in to the play offs.

In the interest of being fair. I have to admit to Droford. I've really have been impressed with Joe Flacco. They need to pay the man. And he might be the best deep ball thrower in the league. This Flacco story feels a lot like Eli in 2007. A few years of mediocrity, glimpses of brilliance but overall uncertainty. Then pulls out 4 blinding play off wins. Will Flacco kick on from here now though is the question. Regardless, I think he is solid and they'd be stupid to let him go.
