As much as I enjoyed watching Scott Steiner in WCW, I'd have to admit that his best days are behind him. At least he won the big one once, although Jim Ross would never mention that as one of his accolades----just a former Michigan alumni. It did confuse me before Steiner showed up in WWE, that some fans hoped he would feud with The Rock because the interviews would be fantastic. The only redeeming quality about Steiner's mic work was that he would occasionally do "shoots."

I've said this before on many occasions and I will say it once more.
In 1993 Scott Steiner was a great technical/power/innovative wrestler. He used some of his amateur wrestling skills, combined with power moves and even some high risk moves (frankenSTEINER). But what plagued him was he never had a gimmick. Fast forward 10 years later and he got a great gimmick, good character and I actually like him on the mic. But now he's got NO wrestling ability. He does not technical wrestle any longer, he sure as hell couldn't pull off his famous frankensteiner and all he's got is clotheslines, pushups and over head suplexes. Oh yeah, with the occasional attempt to do his double underhook powerbomb finisher. Its just a shame that he could not have possessed(sp) both great wrestling skills and his great heel character all at the same moment because he would have made one hell of a star! |
