it's always hard for me to do these Best Ever PPV things because the eras were just so diffferent. it's tough to compare 2002 to 1989. And I am always biased to the late 80's-early 90's.

I'll put it like this, if I only had one Summerslam to choose to watch for the rest of my life, I'd take Summerslam 1991.

Summerslam 2002 was my favourite. In the summer of 2002, it seemed like WWE got their act together after a year or so of week-to-week booking. Most of the Summerslam 2002 programs seemed to have been booked for a while. Most of the matches were awesome, and every match was at least good. Rock-Brock, HBK-HHH, Guerrero-Edge, Benoit-RVD, Flair-Jericho were all really good, while Angle-Rey must be on of the best PPV opening matches ever (although it was kind of short). Taker-Test and the Booker T-Goldust vs. Storm and Christian matches were good too.

An underrated match I think is Cena vs Orton at SummerSlam 2007. Pretty good match with a nice atmosphere.

Yikes... too many to pick just one fave. I haven't read all the other posts yet but I'm sure these have already been mentioned....

1991. Great crowd, classic IC bout between Bret and Perfect, good brawl between LOD and the Nasty Boys, entertaining Jailhouse match between Bossman and Mountie... heated six-man opener... DiBiase vs Virgil was better than it should have been, and heated... and the Savage wedding and wedding party snake attack angle were good too... barring a stinker or two (Hogan and Warrior vs The Triangle of Terror, IRS vs Greg Valentine) it was an amazing show by early 90s standards, and holds up today.

1992 was a spectacle on a par with a WrestleMania type environment. Lots of nothing on the undercard but the World title match was one of Warrior's better matches, the IC title match stole the show for the second year running (in fact I consider it better than the Perfect/Bret match) as Bulldog took the strap from his brother-in-law. The LOD vs Money Inc. match was okay for the era and heated too.

2000. You can see that my memories are much more clear of the less cluttered 80s and 90s than the 2000s as I would have to research to remember more than a couple of matches on this show, but I always remember loving it as the angle going into the main event (HHH vs Angle vs Rock) was one of the best WWE angles of all time (the love triangle), and the TLC match was fabulous. I seem to think Undertaker vs Kane took place here too, with it being their first interaction with Taker under the biker gimmick. Don't remember that match being worth much though. But the two matches I previously mentioned are good enough on their own to carry the rest of the show.

2002: Another one match card, but luckily it's a blinder. HBK vs HHH was awesome. Rock vs Brock was above average too.

So they are my choices.

I'd have to say 2000 was overall the best card but the following years weren't too shabby either.

ORANGE-LOCKE does not have that much rep yet (10+)
I would say...1998 as number 1 for me, because the storylines were hyped and built the entire summer, and it payed off. Not to mention, the hostile MSG crowd cheering for heel Rock. and lets face it, it was following the Mania where Austin finally won the title, and we all knew it was a matter of time before we'd get him and 'taker in a feud.

Second would be 2000, again, very good storylines leading in.

I also liked 2001, just wish Angle would have won the strap, instead of by DQ...and we can all speculate, that if HHH hadnt gotten injured, he might have been in Angle's spot as defender of the company....

Summerslam 1990 will always be a favorite since it was one of the first tapes I rented as a kid

Summerslam 1998 is probably my all time favorite just because of the Stone Cold versus 'Taker and HHH versus The Rock ladder match

loaded card top to bottom
