It's been at least 4 hours since the last "Why TNA is better than WWE"/"TNA > WWE"/"WWE PG Era SUX" thread but I'll jump in on this one.
TBH I don't watch WWE or TNA religiously, I tend to catch the shows on YouTube or just settle for reading the spoilers. But IMO, as with most things like this, there is good and bad to be seen in both companies. A lot of people bemoan the fact that TNA pick up old WWE/WCW/ECW guys instead of pushing their homegrown talent but lemme ask you: How many old/current wrestling fans could TNA attract without these established names? More so, how could TNA legitimise the young, homegrown talent they have if they don't have established names to put them over now? The issue comes in who they pick and how they use them. Honestly, paying Tommy Dreamer seems like money down the drain if you ask me - the guy just isn't relevant anymore. You can't call either company on "recycling" old angles, both companies rinse and repeat things - wrestling has done this for years and most casual/new fans (the important ones) don't know the difference. Having said that, NXT seems a lot fresher than revitalising The Four Horsemen (Fortune/Fourtune), the nWo (The Band) and whatever they will end up calling the ECW faction. |

XL's got it.
TNA's biggest strength from day one is their roster depth, and the talen of said depth. Their midcard is so stacked with talent that it's appauling to know these guys are getting passed over for WWE wash ups just for the sake of name value alone. Now, I can understand utilizing a guy like Kurt Angle. He's been billed as one of the best in the world, and a company with a roster that posseses the work rate that TNA's does, it's smart to use him to help establish and build new stars. But honestly, who have they made since they brought in Angle? And of the guys that he has put over, how many of them have turned heel and since been aborted from their character direction when going over Angle? Which leads me to my next point in not liking TNA; Direction. Their storylines are all over the place. Everyone is constantly turning heel or face and back again in a matter of months. It doesn't work that way. In order for a face/heel turn to be effective, it has to have some build up behind it. TNA has no idea how to run a long program and build any sort of anticipation or suspense. How many times did Christian turn in his TNA run? Or Styles? Seems like every 6 months a guy is turning, and usually for no purposeful reason. TNA is a hot mess right now, and with Dixie being the idiot she has shown herself to be, it's not going to get any better. It's virtually unbearable right now. And it won't get better until Hogan is moved out. Guys like Flair, Foley, Jarrett, and even the Dudleys can be very valuable. But they need to be taken off as on-air talent, and used behind the scenes to help guide and develop talent, not take away screen time from younger guys who are not only better in the ring, but have a brighter future over a longer haul. |

Pops=/=drawing power, in short. If you're going to argue that they're only playing to the folks in the live audience, that's fine. but your own talk of TNA's behaviour "of late" comes from them pulling back after "The Hogan Era" cost them their Monday Night slot. You have to know that this doesn't have the result they want or that any fan should want. Anyway, I only saw this looking for BDC's post. Because the point I was going to make regards that. I don't care so much about WWE talent. Back in the Monday Night Wars, there were talent "exchanges" in the sense that guys from one show would jump ship all the time. It just so happens it's largely one way now. Almost nobody moving from TNA to WWe will be taken seriously. TNA got a big break with the shift to Monday Nights, and they said they pulled out the stops. And they hit us with all they had. and what they had was half hour Hogan promos, a squad of drug addicts who couldn't get their shit together in the 90s "taking over," a 90 year old WWE retiree, and a spot monkey who wasn't even signed taking the spotlight away from the stars in that regrettably retarded cage match. That was what they considered their best foot forward. Sting and Hogan and "The Band" and Jeff Hardy showing up, though he might be in jail rather than in the ring in a couple months. This is the very epitome of where the whole hasbeens and WWE talent comes from. It's not strictly true, but people are reacting to the symptom, and the cause is utter fucking stupidity. |

Lol, have half the people hating on TNA actually watched the last month or so?
TNA is a better wrestling show, end of story. WWE has a better spectacle, its more shiny and has a lot more pyro, bigger arena's etc. But TNA is getting better week by week. Their production values have improved dramatically in the last few months. Hogans on-screen role seems to have been reduced down to the level it should, same with bischoff. Overall the product is improving, and I would say that there is an approximate 50/50 split for old talent and TNA original talent. Jay Lethal, AJ STyles, Rob Terry, The Beautiful People, Abyss, Roxxi, Beer Money, and the guy who fought Brother Ray at slammiversary. Not one of those people has ever been a WWE talent and yet they were all featured on the last PPV, and the biggest storyline at the moment seems to involve Jay Lethal and AJ Styles. TNA was using the bigger, well known names to get themselves attention, as they should, its good business. But they are NOT ignoring their homegrown talent. 2 months ago I didnt know who the hell a lot of the aforementioned people were. They are doing the right thing, just give it time and let it happen. |

I'll admit I have not watched TNA in about a month, aside from the last PPV which fucking sucked and I legitimately found it boring and riddled with stupid booking.
I'll give this week's iMPACT a shot and report back. |
