"We had to suspend Chris Jericho... now what do we do with Orton?"-"Dunno. Let's just suspend him too. Let's put through that failed drug test we've been sitting on."-"He would get 60 days, though."-"Perfect. Jericho will be back by then, and it will give us 30 days to build him up so Orton can make the hot return and squash him."

This is a shocker really. I'm suprized and upset. But I'm interested in seeing where they go because I've been looking forward to seeing some of the younger talent get involved. Miz and Dolph are in no way better then Randy Orton nor is cody but not knowing where the stories might end up is great.

bah, this won't hurt Randy .. if anything it will just make for a good return down the line.

Two bad guys are beating up one good guy in the ring, Randy's music hits, crowd goes crazy, hits two gay RKO's, crowd goes crazy some more, leaves...

This might be a blessing in disguise for Orton. He hasn't had much to do story wise for a while - he's just been the guy who is always the mystery opponent for a heel just to get him on TV for a one off match.

I'm not a huge orton fan, but hope that when he comes back he feels more fresh and can get involved in a story I am interested in.

Arguably the best performer on the roster. He doesn't blow you away on the mic but the guy is money in the ring. His storytelling is incredible. And he's got a much better "superstar look" than Punk or Sheamus or Bryan.

That being said, this will force some other guys to hopefully step up and maybe Orton can come back with such anticipation, they'll have no choice but to put him back on top with the title on Smackdown like he should be.

If it so happened that Randy fails a third test, would WWE really fire him? I'm not sure.

Also, I wonder what the rules are in terms of a guy who fails 3 tests and is terminated. Would it mean he can never wrestle in WWE again? Would there be a period (say a year) where he wouldn't be able to work for WWE, and once that period passes, he can come back? It'd be interesting to know.

A WWE Talent who is terminated by the WWE for a third violation will be prohibited from returning to the WWE for at least one year. Before a possible return, the WWE Talent must test negative for all prohibited substances under the Policy during a pre-contract screening. If they pass the pre-contract screening and are approved to return, the WWE Talent must undergo mandatory unannounced testing for at least one year after the execution of the new contract. The WWE Talent will return with two strikes on his/her record.

Orton might just be cursed. Having had the fued and excellent matches with Christian through last summer, he's been on a road to nowhere. Excellent fued with Rhodes was cut short to start a fued with Barrett, who got injured before they could have their Mania match. Ends up in a thrown-together fued with Kane which was awful. Mini-"fued" with Sheamus before transitioning into a fued with Jericho...who promptly gets suspended. Now Orton joins him.

Dude should come back with a cursed gimmick. Then you re-debut Papa Shango.

Wouldn't worry about Randall.

Jeff Hardy and Rey Rey have like a combined 14 "second violation" warnings and had been rehired/still employed respectively.

Much like angles, I would think they're relying on the short term memories of people. Just instead of fans, they're worried about shareholders, sponsors, and anyone else who gives a shit that they follow their self-imposed "punishments".

I think the biggest news coming out of this is how it will effect how the WWE sees Orton as a long-term, bankable player. If Orton gets suspended one more time, then they have to release him for at least one year. While they can bring back Orton for another go around, he'd still be on two strikes, and thus he's not really "that guy" they can count on any more. Is Orton going to be okay with that going forward in his career?

Another guy on two strikes is Rey Mysterio -- one of those other main event guys that the WWE counts on to move merchandise and to general a bit of interest in the product. The WWE really needs to step on finding guys with clean slates that can be inserted into major positions within the company. Sadly, even Dolph Ziggler and Sin Cara have suspensions to their names.

CM Punk's last 3 WrestleMania opponents are all suspended. (Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho)

So much for the theory of top guys not getting caught from the Wellness Policy. That or the top guys are smarter about what they do. Cena.

That is why he does all the PR and charity stuff.

"John, we need you to piss in this cup."

"Sorry man, I got to go meet a group of kids who are DYING. You would rather me piss in a cup than give these kids their last dying wish? You fucking prick."

" We'll get you at the SmackDown! taping."

" SmackDown! "

"Next Monday, then?"

"Got a divorce hearing, bro."

"Alright, at the PPV?"

"Got a radio interview in Tokyo that afternoon and then I'm flying in late on the jet for the show."

"Nevermind, John."

"Thanks. You are the man!"

Sounds about right. Also, isn't Orton the one that shit in the handbag? Did he not get a strike for that?

Wellness Policy Strikes =/= "You are an immature unprofessional prick who needs to learn how to act" strikes

I'm conflicted. On one hand, WWE has suspended guys like Rey Mysterio Jr (their biggest latin star) and Randy Orton. But in all reality, who believes John Cena is 100% natural?

So on one hand I'm like "WWE will suspend anyone, no matter who it is". And on the other I'm like "Nah, when Cena is suspended, then i'll believe it".

Cena is immune from it. There's no way they'd let him fail unless he was already taking a vacation and just makes it look like it's possible for someone of his level to be suspended.

Orton is not on Cena's level of importance. No where near it. If Cena were suspended, outside of Punk they'd really not have anyone to take the reigns.

In all, I'd be completely shocked if they were to suspend Cena, and likewise I don't believe for a minute he's natural.

It's a work.

Ziggler spiked Orton's drink before he took the test with the intention of taking Orton's place - as he alluded to on Raw.

If this was true it would be the greatest example of WWE working the internet EVER.

LOL.

Regardless, they could make that the angle to re-start an Orton/Ziggler fued (if that's where they were looking to go).
