Ha! Just plugged up the SNES this weekend and been playing Mario World. I am at 99, keep trying to remember what the last level could be

LOL That is exactly what I was referring to in my post when I mentioned the game. I could not contemplate there only being 96. It had to be 100. IT HAD TO BE DAMNIT.
