Lets see
Uncle Elmer-He ran a fed in the next town over from me for about 2 years. Interviewed him for my Jr High newspaper. Nice guy. Bad News Allen. Hardcore Holly-Back when he was getting trained he worked a couple of shutdowns in chem plants with my father. The company they worked for threw a picnic. Got to talk to Bob,Who was just Robert back then, for a bit. Mark Henry-He has just started with WWF and I ran into him at Waffle House near where he grew up. Booker T-It was after a PPV in Houston. Really nice guy. Kamala-Saw what I think was his final match. Since I had helped out promoting the show the promoter let me in to the lockeroom so I could meet Kamala. Really nice and humble guy. Chris Masters-He came to NOLA to work a Wildkat show. Got to talk to him for a few minutes before and after the show. Bestia 666-Son of Damien 666. Met him twice now at Wildkat shows. Matt Hardy-Slik has seen the pictures of Matt Hardy when someone we know brought him a bag of grapes to a Wildkat show. Ended up talking to Matt about a mutual friend that worked in OMEGA years ago. Stevie Richards-Came in to work a Powerslam show. Got invited after the show to go have dinner with them at Waffle House. Really neat guy who is way into conspiracy theories. Luke Hawx-He owns Wildkat and worked for Powerslam. Super nice guy,who after meeting me one time not only remembered my name but remembered I love lucha libre. Every time I have made the trip to NOLA for a Wildkat show,Luke makes it a point to come find me and ask how my trip was. Viscera-He worked Powerslam's Heritage Days show in May 2013. After the show got to talk to him for a bit. Mentioned how I had been following him since he first showed up in Memphis. "Newt you are making me feel old" was his reply. Then found out he was only 2 years older than me. Ted Dibiase Jr-Came in for a Powerslam show held in a strip mall church in Picayune MS. Only got to talk to him for a few minutes after the show. He was in a rush to get home. Vordell Walker-Met him so many times. Mostly cause he works most of the indies in my area. Really nice and quiet guy. The 4th time I met him he told me why he wasn't in ROH for long and why he doubted he would get the call from TNA. Rodney Mack-Met him last night for the first time. We talked about XCW. And he asked me to link him when I uploaded his match. There is other indy names I have met. But most of them are unknown outside the deep south area. People like former NWA women's champ Barbi Hayden, who is much prettier in person. Former WWE ref and FCW talent Wes Adams, who I usually end up talking to at least once a week. Mostly about baseball cards and comics. Sugar Dunkerton, met him at the second Great Southern 8. And plenty of others. |

all of them. I have met every wrestler ever. I remember drinking 29 beers with Kerry von Erich whilst discussing the night Big Kev had him and all 7 of his brothers in The Claw at the same time in front of 70,000 at Texas Stadium. Life on the road man

I briefly met Darren Young at GaymerX last year. He seemed pretty nice. His mom was pretty awesome though. She's super-supportive and follows him around as a photographer.

I met Paul Orndorff as a kid. He was getting a beer at the concession stand. I asked him if he was wrestling that night, he said "No kid, I gotta do paperwork tonight." Then left.

I've met the following names:
Harley Race - really nice guy and indulged this mark in talking about his feud with Ric Flair and his multiple title runs. Jerry Brisco - super nice man. just a completely humble and great man to talk to. We chatted for a good 10-15 minutes about his career in Georgia and Florida. Baron Von Raschke - one of the most awesome experiences was meeting Da Baron. He's really rather shy in real life. He perked up though when I mentioned my late grandfather's name. He and my grandfather were acquaintances years ago. Bob Geigel - really nice but quiet man. He didn't say all that much. Brad Rheingans - Nice enough but didn't say much either. Gene LeBell - really an awesome and funny guy to meet. Couldn't have been nicer to me. Danny Hodge - wow this man is the nicest guy I've ever met. We talked for a good 30 plus minutes about anything and everything. He talked to me as if we had been old friends. here's me and him from the summer of 2005 ![]() |

As someone who has loved the sport of wrestling all of my life, I always dreamed of meeting my favorite superstars. Here are a few stories detailing how sometimes, with a little luck, you can do just that.
The first person I got to meet was BILLY GUNN back in his "Smokin' Gunns" days. I was probably about 8 or 9 years old at the time. The WWF used to stop at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, to a venue called the Quandt fieldhouse. I was ringside with my grandfather(may he R.I.P) and before the event started we noticed him peeking through the curtain. My grandfather, not being a shy man, got his attention and handed him my program and a sharpie. He signed it, smiled, and high-fived me before disappearing into the back, just as quickly as he appeared. While it wasn't the longest interaction, it made a huge impact on me. Another person I've had the pleasure of sharing a few moments with was "Lil' Naitch" himself, Charles Robinson. After a SmackDown! taping in Green Bay, WI in July of last year, me, my wife, Heather, and my friend, Ryan, were shuffling our way out along with the rest of the crowd. As I'm scanning the Resch Center one more time, taking one last mental picture of it all, I noticed him using a wrench to loosen the turnbuckle from the ring post. I quietly gestured to the rest of my group that we should slowly make our way over, so as not to draw too much attention from other fans. I asked him if he had time to pose for a photo with us, but he said, "He was too busy." I then countered with, "What if my wife gives you a kiss on the cheek?". He quickly looked around and hopped down from the ring apron. We take the first picture of him and my wife. I then say that I should get one too and in my drunken excitement, pull him in and give him a kiss on the cheek as well. The face he made in the picture is classic! Afterward, he shook my hand and said that was one of the funniest things that could've happened. Such a nice guy with a great sense of humor. Now we always chant "LIL' NAITCH" a minimum of 3 times whenever we go to a live event. The same night, as we were exiting the arena, we heard someone say that Kofi Kingston was at a party hosted by Hornswoggle(Oshkosh, WI native) at a bar just down the road. We all hauled ass to said bar, hoping that the rumor was true. We walk in and immediately start looking for anyone who might be having a drink after the show. After getting a drink, we started to walk outside to the patio. On the way out, we ran into Titus O'Neill using an ATM. We said hello and snapped a couple of pictures with him before he went upstairs to the roped off section. We decided to sit down at the corner of the bar, close to the staircase, just in case someone else would happen to walk by. Within minutes, we see Big E, who also took the time to take a couple of pictures with us. We waited around for a little while longer but didn't see anyone else, so we finished up our drinks and left. It was still one of the best nights of my wrestling fan-dom. But my favorite experience would have to be meeting former WWE superstar, Mason Ryan, at a concert/meet & greet, hosted by a friend of mine in Milwaukee. We got to actually sit down with him and BS for over an hour. We talked about his days in the WWE, how both ROH & WWE were in Milwaukee that same weekend for shows, and a small town in Wales, close to where he grew up, called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. He couldn't have been more laid back. Later on in the night, he joined my friend's band, The Heroes Lie, on-stage while they played his WWE theme song, "Here And Now Or Never", which they wrote. It was easily the best concert-going experience I've ever had and the meet & greet made it even better. I'll be going back to Green Bay at the end of this month for RAW. I'm hoping to meet more people than last time, especially since we'll be tailgating at Lambeau prior to the show. IF we're lucky, maybe we can convince someone to join us for a brat and a brew. @KLock7 Host of the #GoodThingsBadThings Wrestling Podcast **Hopefully that wasn't too long winded.** |
