David Crockett interviews Killer Karl Kox in this rare interview from 1975.
Ole Anderson/Gene Anderson vs Ric Flair/Greg Valentine from 1977. -Wahoo McDaniel is the special guest referee in this cage match. -Ole and Gene were just a tremendous heel team in the 70s. Flair and Valentine were also great as a team. A couple of young cocky guys. Wahoo McDaniel vs Johnny Valentine from 1974 These two had one of the greatest feuds in Crockett Promotions. The Super Destroyer (Don Jardine aka The Spoiler) vs Jerry Brisco from 1974 |

I was surprised at so little footage they put on that dvd from the 70s and early 80s.
Most of that footage is available to them as it aired on tv. |

JJ Dillon presents Dusty Rhodes with a gift JJ Dillon Presents Dusty Rhodes With A Present... by RoyLucier RIP to the late Jumbo Tsuruta who died today in 2000. One of the greatest pound for pound workers ever imho. It sucks his AWA title run wasn't better received in the States. He was actually booed while working as a face.

I met JJ Dillon at the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame a few years ago.
That's about all I can add to this thread. |

His work in Florida and Crockett Promotions was just amazing. His feud with Dusty Rhodes in Florida was just awesome. Championship Wrestling from Florida-Summer 1983. NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Dusty Rhodes (challenger) vs Harley Race (champion). Ron Bass is special referee. Since his arrival in Florida, Ron Bass had been a popular babyface often teaming with Dusty and Barry Windham and feuding with Angelo Mosca. Shortly after Bass' turn, J.J. Dillon became his "exclusive" manager and together they had a successful run in Florida. Ron Bass gives his version of the events that led to his split with Dusty Rhodes. Dusty in these clips proves why he's considered one of the greatest talkers. You really believe he's distraught over the fact that his best friend just turned his back on him. |

Definitely weird to see King Kong Bundy with hair in World Class.
Also it is truly insane how over these Von Erich boys were in Texas. The girls are all over Kevin as he comes to the ring. Some fan even tries to pull off his ring jacket. This is supposedly his first match Kevin wrestles barefoot. |

if you wanna know more about why fans to this day love the Von Erich boys in Texas you need to see this documentary.
This one is a great companion piece to WWE's World Class documentary. this one was made by independent filmmaker Brian Harrison a year or so before Kevin sold the tapes to WWE. Their show aired on Saturday nights opposite of Saturday Night Live. World Class would get a 14 rating whereas SNL would get a 9 or 10 rating. |

I always enjoyed WCCW, far more than any of the NWA territories. Great wrestling combined with a bit of "New York pizazz" . The wrestlers had a great degree of showmanship.
Hard to believe how many wrestlers from WCCW are now gone. Kerry, David, Chris and Mike Von Erich Gino Hernandez Missing Link Chris Adams Buddy Roberts and Terry Gordy Bruiser Brody Etc.... It's really amazing how few stars from that territory are left. |

Without a doubt. WWF's weekly T.V was pretty pedestrian at that time.

to me the saddest story of the Von Erichs would be Mike.
Mike didn't want to wrestle. His dad Fritz pushed him into it. He wanted a career in music as he liked playing guitar. It got worse after David's death as he now had to be the replacement for David due to their similar facial features. Mike shoulder injury and subsequent battle with Toxic Shock Syndrome really threw him for a loop. He had really high fevers of 106-108 degrees which fried his brain badly. His in ring work was never comparable to a Ric Flair or a Lou Thesz. He was downright awful to be quite honest. Mike's in ring work suffered greatly after the Toxic Shock. His promos got worse due to his now slurred speech. His dad does he all he can to shove Mike back in the ring as soon as possible. He returned to the ring some 11 months later in July 1986. Mike's addiction to Alcohol and Drugs worsened after the hospitalization as he was depressed and frustrated. He was tired of having to be David. He ultimately ended up committing suicide by overdosing on placidyl. Kerry presents Mike with his old ring jacket for Mike's first match. Michael Hayes of course interrupts and destroys it. Mike Von Erich press conference with his doctor, Kevin and Kerry at Baylor Hospital An interview with David, Kevin, Kerry and Mike before Mike's debut match with Skandar Akbar Mike Von Erich's debut match with Skandor Akbar at Reunion Arena Freebird Buddy Roberts comes out to harass Mike Von Erich -little brother Chris bashes Buddy with a chair Ric Flair carries Mike to a 10 minute draw. this is a wild fun six man tag match The Freebirds vs Kerry, Dave and Mike -If The Birds win, Hayes and Gordy are reinstated after losing loser leave town matches |

two classic WCCW matches that are must see.
Kevin Von Erich vs Chris Adams at the Cotton Bowl in 1984 -Adams solidifies his heel turn by hitting Kevin in the back of the head with a chair This is the infamous Haircut match from Cotton Bowl Extravagaganza in 1985 Kevin and Kerry vs The Dynamic Duo (Gino Hernandez/Chris Adams) |
