The 80's/being a kid nostalgia hit the right bones. The frights not as much. Put Tim Curry's IT in this movie, would have been right balance.

Eddie's Mom and Bev's Dad are kind of important to the overall story that includes the adult chapter. They're the lynchpin of those kids' fears.
As for Bill's Dad, I saw that as him just wanting to move on and not dwell on the fact that his son is gone. It had been a year. Seemed like a pretty normal reaction to me. |

Your son supposedly vanishes into a drain with the strong likelihood of foul play, no body is recovered and your reaction is "Fuck it, hes gone. Forget it." That's not a normal reaction for a parent.
The dad is in one scene for 10 seconds, so whatever. The parents are all cartoons in an otherwise grounded world. |

In the book, It forms the geography of the town and influences the minds of the adults in it.

I absolutely loved it. It reminded me of Stand By Me. I thought Bill Skarsgard was good as Pennywise, apples to oranges with his and Tim Curry's version though. However -- the real stand-outs were the kids. They all gave great performances, especially the girl playing Barbara, the kid from Stranger Things (he was absolutely hysterical) and the fat kid.
I give this movie four clowns out of four. |

$117 million opening weekend
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4323&p=.htm 2nd largest opening for an R-Rated movie ever, just behind Deadpool (132 million) and definitely the largest for a horror film ever. I think it will have legs, I'm not sure for how long -- but good word of mouth + lack of good cinema options lately are likely to help IT. With a budget of $35 million (and assuming marketing costs were also around that), this film is a big hit for WB, however much it further makes. |

I think it'll have legs. The people I know that have seen it loved the movie. It'll last for a while. Nothing of note is coming out unless you think the upcoming Lego movie or the Tom Cruise "American Made" have strong openings. I think It will own the month.

It should be noted that the horror genre typically has are larger portion of their sales front loaded than other genres. Still i think ot will do well for the weeks leading into Halloween

Did anyone else feel like you were watching Stranger Things half the time? I did.
5/5 - creepy, funny, great characters, good jump scares...and the NKOTB stuff. |

I haven't been able to go yet because of that bitch Irma. She was making people float down here instead of IT. But once the theater reopens I am THURRRRRRRRR.

Wouldn't that be ironic given that Stranger Things is itself a massive homage to all of those 80's/90's supernatural/adventurous coming-of-age movies, including IT?

Saw this. Pretty good with some very minor gripes. The projector scene in the garage is my favorite

So hard to use the word "it" in a post when talking about the movie "It".
