Nomar turned down 15mil a year... Nomar is under contract for next season, he doesn't have much of a say in it.
I think Detroit figures Tejada will put some butts in the seats, I thought I heard Seattle offered Tejada around 8-9mil/year. Last I heard Detroit is willing to top anyone, the question is does he want money or money and a chance to win a championship. If Tejada gets say 10mil a year, Nomar won't get no 15mil. |

The Giants got rid of Ponson after they realized that he did not fit with the Giants.
He was pretty bad, and I think he would only be decent in the AL. |

....Ponson came from the AL.
And Sheffield commented on the situation last night at the Florida - MD game (LOL at florida getting ****ed) he said there was just a bump in the road and he is pumped about playing for the Yankees. He was with Darryl Strawberry watching Darryl's son, DJ. pretty good ballplayer. |

I heard there was some talk of Florida being interested in Vlad? That would be cool but I don't think its very credible.
As for my comment up there about Baltimore, I just think it kind of sucks for them because they got a bunch of money to spend right at the time when Boston and New York do too. So adding a few good players to Baltimore now still would be almost impossible to beat both New York and Boston, or even one of them. If they can start winning again it will help them a lot, but this is going to be like the hardest year in a while to win the AL East. And especially with Boston the Wildcard would be hard too. Anyway, go Orioles! |

Everyone thinks Vlad ends up in Baltimore, and Baltimore gets a good price for a great player. They have money to spend and the big spenders NY and Bos, won't be going after him.
A-Rod says theres a lot of smoke but no fire. He thinks he'll be in Texas. I'd expect him to say that, he's a smart player and knows if he doesn't get delt, he can't piss of the Texas fans, because it kills his endorsment value. He knows he has a better chance to win and make more money on endorsements, in Boston. That being said, there's talk that the Dodgers are going after Nomar and if the Sox don't get A-rod, they will still deal Nomar (keep Manny) and go after Tejada. |

Batista isn't a bad pick up but I think that they set their hopes a bit too high on him. Ricardi was on the score today and figured he'd be their number 2 guy, feels like they're asking quite of him

Anyone read the trade rumor (which was disputed heavily by Phillies GM Ed Wade...) between The Rangers, Red Sox, and Phillies.
Rangers would get: Manny Ramirez (BOS) and Jimmy Rollins (PHI) Red Sox would get: Alex Rodrigeuz (TEX) and Bobby Abreu (PHI) Phillies would get: Nomar Garciaparra (BOS) and Trot Nixon (BOS) Interesting trade. Phillies upgrade at SS but I'm not sure on Trot's defense. I do know that Bobby Abreu dogs it in the field sometimes. The trade would also the Phillies more of a righthanded hitting team, Rollins is a switch and Abreu is left but so is Trot. I think that Red Sox would come away with a steal if they got both Abreu and A-Rod. Thats intense. Buts it not going to happen. By The Way.... Tim Worrell signed 2 Year, $6Million Contract. Someone wanted to know his contract numbers |

The Orioles will sign Guerrero and either Pudge or Javy Lopez. If the Marlins couldn't sign Pudge what makes them believe they can get Vlad?

Nah I doubt they will trade Foulke. He's really clutch and a big part of the clubhouse, plus he's homegrown.

Ok now I'm starting to get a little worried. Poor A's they lose the best closer in 2002 the next year and the best closer in 2003 the next year. WTF is that.
Well the Yankees will just counter with something again. |

Foulkeeeeeeeeeee
Timlin and Williamson coming out of the pen to set up ![]() I dunno....If the Sox can't get A-Rod I don't think they should be moving around Nomar or Manny. Even if they DO get A-Rod..why don't they just keep Nomar one more year and move him to 3rd, and Mueller to 2nd? That'd be a ridiculous line up. Sure they have to "look" to the future but fu>ck that, do the what the Marlins did a few years ago and just break the bank for one season and win the World Series. Anddd I still do not understand why they put Manny on waivers earlier this year

Apparently the Tigers signed someone today (didn't catch a name) and the ESPN guys were joking around, "They're going all the way." I hope they do go all the way to make Van Pelt or whatever the hell his name is look dumb.

I doube Nomar will stay, they don't want another Clemens/Vaughn where a top player walks and they get nothing. I'd expect to still see him delt and them go after Tejada, unless Nomar changes his demands "money". Last report was he turned down the 4x15mil cause he wants 4x17mil. Now, I think the sox have 4x12mil on the table. |

the Dodgers got Juan Encarnation from the Marlins. also, Mike Cameron signed w/ the mets
and in a smaller deal, a 3 way, the Jays get Justin Spier, Rockies get Joe Kennedy, and D-rays get mark hendrickson. |

I dont know if this has been up there yet but the Mets got Mike Cameron
Any talk of the Twins getting Urbina is on hold unless they move Jacque Jones. He would likely go to the Padre's for someone like Peavy. Personally I would rather have Jacque. |

Also, who did the A's lose after 2002? I cant remember correctly, but if you are referring to Billy Koch I will kill you.
(And if you had the wrong date, Jason Isringhausen is barely the best closer in the league) |

yeah, the A's are I think the only team in history to have 3 different guys save 40games 3 years in a row.
Talk is the O's are going to sign Vlad and may even go after Pudge or another catcher. If the O's make those moves, it wouldn't shock me if they gave the Sox/Yanks a run. |
