To bring in Gwen now would be a mistake. If you were going to bring her in at all( :foc: Sam!!), then you should have brought her in in the first film. Hold off on the Goblin until at least the sequel, then have her die. Then you can bring Mary Jane in(although I prefer Black Cat, Felica Hardy>>>>>>MJ). Although, with these Spider-Man movies(as great as they are, SM2 had so much comic book feel in it) being so kid friendly, it's kind of hard to do that.
Even still, I DON'T want to see the Goblin again. Yeah, you kind of have to now, but I really don't want to see another Goblin. The two films have been very different from each other(Goblin, Ock), so to just re-use the Goblin is lazy as hell. Unless you're going to drastically change the costume to make it look like the Hobgoblin(fun fact: the Hobgoblin was Ned Leeds in the comics). |

March 28, 2005 — According to Harry Knowles over at Aint It Cool News, they can now confirm that Thomas Hayden Church will be playing The Sandman in 'Spider-Man 3'. Multiple spies at Sony have confirmed that Thomas Hayden Church will indeed be playing SANDMAN. So there it is, Sandman will be Spider-Man's main villian in this installment, and with Green Goblin 2(Harry Osborn) possibily making an appearance

Jaded-Dragon, that scenario you created was just awesome.
Venom needs some build-up, but I think one film would be enough. All you need to do is create a strong enough plot with The Sandman, slowly build-up Harry Osbourne as The Green Goblin (for Film V), and maybe have JJ Jameson start to build-up to Scorpion or something for a later film. I have a feeling The Lizard may make an appearance in the film as well. |

It could be very easy to set up Venom's appearence during the next movie if they borrow from the animated series. They already introduced JJ's son in SM2, so towards the beginning of the movie you have Parker being given the assignment to go photograph the space shuttle take-off. You also introduce Eddie Brock in the beginning, jealous that Parker always gets the best pics of Spider-Man, and jealous that the boss picked Parker to photograph his son's shuttle launch. We also set up the impending appearence of Sandman as normal.
In the next act we have Jameson's ship land with some black goo attached to it. The landing should happen near some body of water. The goo gets cleaned off, washed down a drain, travels along through the sewer and ends up in the body of water, where it ends up riding the current into the water surrounding New York. All of this could be accomplished very easily in 5 minutes of film time. Have the movie proceed as normal (normal being however Sam Raimi wants it), and since every villian in the movies will, without a doubt, get at least two battle sequences, have the first fight with Sandman end near the water. Sandman can get wet and start to turn to mud, which causes him to run off. Spidey left there catching his breath comes out of the water with the black goo on him. It seeps into his skin and he starts to feel ill. He returns home and goes to sleep. He wakes up the next morning feeling incredible and realizes that the black goo made him even stronger. Since the symbiote intensifies negative feelings, Parker decides not to do anything about the symbiote because he feels he needs it to beat Sandman. Play off the emotion that he was getting his ass kicked and it makes him angry to think about it. In the last battle between Spidey and Sandman, Eddie Brock arrives at the scene and begins trying to photograph the action. He eventually gets too close to the action and the Sandman captures him and tries to use him as a human shield. Have the symbiote Spidey yell out something like, "I don't care about that loser" or something to that effect. Sandman eventually drops Brock onto the ground and he gets knocked out from the fall. Now have Spidey nearly kill Sandman and realize what the suit is doing to him. Since Symbiotes hate sonic and fire, have an explosion happen during the fight, Spidey can basically throw himself into the flames in an effort to get the symbiote off of him. He succeeds and the goo travels to the nearby Eddie Brock. BAM! We are set up for Venom in the next movie. The symbiote hates PArker for rejecting it, Brock hates Parker out of jealousy, and after the symbiote bonds with him, he hates him even more because he knows that Parker is Spider-Man and he remembers when Spider-man called him a loser. Sam Raimi doesn't want to use Venom because he likes characters with human emotions.... That's the biggest bunch of BS I've ever heard. Brock hates Parker out of Jealousy, no emotion there huh? Parker eventually has to deal with the fact that Brock knows his identity and has to live with the fear that he may let that information lose at any moment. Fear, no emotion there. And how about the time in the comic where Peter was still wearing the Black suit, and Venom came into his apartment looking for him and terrorized Mary Jane? Peter came home in the black suit and MJ started freaking out to the point where Peter had to take the suit off before she realized it really was him. No emotion there either eh? They could do it, if they wanted to. I would personally take Venom over most any other villian, just because Venom was so dangerous to both Peter Parker AND Spider-Man. |

The only problem I ever had with Venom was how often he was in the comics. It seemed like every other month, he had a story. To be honest, Spider-Man has much more interesting villains than Venom. Mysterio, Scorpion and Arcade to name a few(that last one's a joke for those who know the comics
). But that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see Venom. By introducing John Jameson, there's potential to bring in the Man-Wolf, but I doubt it. Scorpion would be awesome. That would mean more Jameson, and in turn, more J.K. Simmons, which I'm always up for. Mysterio would be absolutely fucking awesome. You could actually make some scenes creepy, but I doubt Raimi would do this. By introducing John Jameson, there's potential to bring in the Man-Wolf, but I doubt it. |
