One word can sum up my fav wrestler... Hassan!
I like him as a wrestler, I like him as a gimmick, and if you could put down your bud light, stop playing that "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" song, and listen to the man NOT as a wrestling fan, but as a person, he makes perfect sense. |

Haha, seems like Jericho is pretty popular here, very cool.
Well, my favourite will ALWAYS be The Rock. I love everything about him, he's the reason I started to watch wrestling in the first place. Anyhow, other than The Rock, (past and present) I love Bret Hart, Mick Foley, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Edge, Lita, Kane, Trish, Rey Mysterio, and Eddie Guerrero. |

Of all time?
The Rock, Steve Austin (pre-'02), (ECW) Taz, Bret Hart, Chris Benoit... ...those are the top 5 for me. I also like Kurt Angle (truly one of the G.O.A.T.s), Flair (just as long as he isn't a booker), Keiji Muto (because of how he reinvented himself), Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Steamboat, Booker T...Jun Akiyama, Mr. Perfect...the list goes on. Of the right now? Hassan, Shelton, Orton, Carlito, Christian, Cena (well, '03-'04 Cena that is). These 5 should be the future of WWE (well, Hassan more short-term than the rest). Cena is getting "('00) Rocked" in the sense that he's becoming too simplistic movewise in the ring and his promos aren't that compelling. Which really sucks, because we all thought the move to Raw would let some of the old Cena without the reins of being pre-taped and edited come back out. For one Raw it was that way, and really, it never really hit the top... Hassan is kind of limited by his character but nothing beats being interrupted by an "ALAAAAYAAYY..." As long as they're allowed to run with him, he's slowly becoming a golden heel. Carlito, no introduction needed. He could be the next "Honky Tonk" at this rate. Only thing I don't like about him is how he wins the titles (with no buildup whatsoever), but except for not using a finisher, Carlito is pretty methodical and ..."cool" in the ring. Oh yeah, he's entertaining outside of the ring, too! Orton? Instead of making him another "Rock", like they tried to do before, pumping him up as a third generation superstar and all of that, they should just let him be the hated, irreverent heel he's best at being. The RKO, while still an Ace Crusher ripoff (Randy does it more like Johnny Ace used to, with one arm), is slowly gaining Rock-like momentum as a much anticipated finisher. While they kind of botched his push by having him win the title too early (and most likely to erase Brock Lesnar off the record books), an on-going feud with the Undertaker could revitalize him. Shelton: The next Benoit? He does share the slight bit of nerves on the microphone that Chris Benoit used to early in the ECW days...but he's found a nice way to work around the "soft" style WWE is employing in the ring. His matches with HHH and HBK are the mark of good things to come... Christian: From the (mostly) silent, underappreciated member of a tag team with Edge, to a self-made heel that's definitely gotten over with the fans on his own merit, despite crappy booking and scripting. Soon, WWE won't be able to ignore this former mid-carder. At least he still holds one of the more interesting finishers in WWE, in a time where all wrestlers that aren't in the upper-upper card are using the Complete Shot for a finisher. Over all? It might be The Rock, followed closely by Benoit. I am a huge mark for old-school Stone Cold as well, but The Rock has always done everything in his career the right way, unlike others who have been in a comparable position. Rock's not above putting people over at his own expense, nor does he make much of a hassle backstage. His actual wrestling was on a steady slide since 2000, when his Samoan Drops became more like Samoan Dumps, and his moveset went from like 10 moves to about 4, but he has always made me laugh at least once since he adopted the persona. If you ask me who I think is the best wrestler period? I'll tell you Kurt Angle. He's the complete package. For a guy who has only been in it for 6 years, Kurt can pull any kind of wrestling off with ease. He's gold on the mic...he'll make a shitty angle look like a million bucks, even if he hates it himself. He's everything Bret Hart should have been, even more so than my second personal favorite, Chris Benoit. The second best wrestler period, would have to be Jericho. He had a bad year in 2002...absolutely abysmal, even. But there's no denying he has what it takes to be THE guy. WWE should have done it in 2000 when his momentum was at the highest. Instead of making him fodder for HHH the following year. Also, let him do his freaking finisher the RIGHT way. Let him go back to Tiger Suplexing people. Just let Jericho be Jericho, and the fans will line up behind him. |
