OK..so they planned out that Matt would take time away from the ring and while that was happening he would release on his website - not on wwe.com, not in the storylines - a story about Lita sleeping with Edge. At this point on TV Lita is still playing the wounded heroine face and is involved with Kane/Snitsky/Trish and has nothing to do with Edge.

Hardy is an ignored midcarder with a limited fanbase, but Vince & Co were 100% certain that the rumor would get out and spread. So they fired Matt in a premeptive move. To rile up the crowds. And they kept Lita as a face only until the chants of SLUT and WHORE were too much to ignore and kept her involved with Kane ( to keep him busy, I guess) ...because, remember, up to this point Edge and Lita had nothing to do with each other storyline wise.

And then the turn, and again, we get lots of Edge and Lita as heels against Kane, no mention of Matt. Only until Matt has probably signed with the WWE again and is finishing his indy dates do the tease a return.

So to recap:the WWE anticipated that there would be such a fan backlash to a story leaked on a wrestler's homepage, that they built six months of storylines around a bunch of people that really had nothing to do with the rumor in the first place. How exactly was a Kane/Lita/Snitsky storyline going to fit in with Hardy and Edge? You can't even call it forethought because there is no logical progression from point A to point B.

And if this was some sort of grand scheme.....WHY FUCK IT UP BY JOBBING hARDY OUT AT THE VERY END?

There's no way the WWE planned this intricately and this far in advance.

Well this is all very intersting and all.. But I think the whole Matt Hardy thing was nothing more than Vince realising there's money to be made with this whole thing.
