Yes, the OS would have changed, but the PC would still be around in all likelihood.
I'm not saying there wouldn't be PCs, because computers had already been made as small as those used in many homes today.

Big Bully Busick. C'mon, he was an 1890's-style villian, & his finisher was a punch. You don't get much wackier than that. I remember Sid destroyed him on WWF superstars, & it's the only time I can remember that I was cheering Sid.

Yeah, but that's the point. You tried to turn my analogy into a different, less apt one. Even then, you were wrong as without Microsoft, there would have been a standard OS. The only way Gates beat others was by offering it to people. Essentially giving it away. Had Gates not been around we would have simply adopted one of the other viable contenders.

He's boring as shit, not over, and he thinks he is. He's trying to build a legacy out of himself but he can't see that if he is on top of ANY federation - IT WILL NOT SUCCEED.

He sucks and he needs to realize it.

That doesn't make it wrong. That doesn't mean operating systems would be like they are today. Bill Gates's claim to fame never was that he invented the PC in the first place (nor did he truly invent the operating system, obviously), but Bill Gates has made operating systems and using GUI wat it is today. It's not as inapt an analogy as you make it out to be.

Without Hulk Hogan, wrestling would still be regional promotions, and without Bill Gates, we'd probably be using a dos-like program, IF computers ever became as popular as they are today in the first place.

I don't know shit about computers...so I will stay out of that part, though it has always been my assumption (could be wrong) that it was how Gates marketed Windows and what not that made him the big dollars...

Vince McMahon's marketing of Hulk Hogan IS what made money. It was Vince's idea to bring all these regional stars together to create one big super promotion. It was Vince McMahon who hand picked Hulk Hogan to be the flagship. It was Vince McMahon who promoted the events. And it was Vince McMahon who put the money up to make sure that guys across America (and alot of the World to...another innovative McMahon idea) would do the honors for Hogan. Don't make any mistake about it, McMahon could have done it with a guy like Roberts, could have done it with a guy like Savage...Hogan had just come off of doing a movie, so McMahon chose Hogan...but I have said this before and I will say it again, he could have done it with any Muscle Man.

At the moment, I'd like to stress how much I dislike John Cena and Batista. As champions they are doing very little to raise the profile of the WWE in my eyes. These two wouldn't get near the title in the glory days of Austin, Rock and Foley. However, we've all got to move on and accept that peak probably wont ever be repeated.

So instead, I'll classify my vote for least favourite wrestler not in terms of who pisses me off, but those who get my complete apathy. These guys might not take anything away from wrestling, but they certainly dont add anything. At least with Cena and Batista they were at least of the the following three - entertaining at one point in the last year, have been in quality feuds, can catch my attention when drunk (when I'm drunk, not them)

So, back from my tangent and onto the topic, my votes are for and done in a clever little champions of champions (of losers) way-

Heavyweight champion - Mark Henry

IC champion - Dennis Knight/Mideon

Tag champions - Crash and Hardcore

Womens champion - Gail Kim

Cruiserweight- XPac

The above all suck(ed)

The problem is that it's hard to stack up today's worst gimmicks/characters with the past worst gimmicks/characters. There was some sheer crap, but my viewing career goes back into the 80s, meaning there's the 80s, 90s, and this decade. If something stuck out from the 80s, and stuck with me to this day, it's gonna look worse than the most horrible gimmick from today. IT's that test of time thing.

It was Hulk Hogan that went out there and did it. It's the "in" thing to insult the guys that step between the ropes and act as though they're all just buffoons that have nothing at all to do with their own success, but the truth is that Hogan was special.

I don't know what else to say...but simply no. Terry Bollea is a charismatic man. Yes he is the one who went out into the ring and performed, but this is an industry of promotion. It was Vince McMahon who made Hogan a star. It was Vince McMahon who made Austin a star. Any other WWE made Superstar was Vince McMahon's doing. Did Hogan go into the ring and made it happen? Yes. But without Vince McMahon, his vision of what professional wrestling could be, Hogan would have been just another terratory guy.

This is just something I have noticed about alot of people on these boards. You may have read what terratory wrestling was like, you may know what a big deal WrestleMania was, etc. etc. etc., But I think one of the biggest problem of people here is that they wern't fans of it back then. Ask ANY Wrestling History who made Hulkamania, and the answer will be Vince McMahon. Do you realise that McMahon Sr. has said that if he knew what Vincent K. was going to do with WWWF he wouldn't have sold it to him. It was McMahon who went through, raided all the big stars of all the promotions across America, and then created one company. Try to get this image. Back in 1999 Steve Austin was the hottest thing going, now think about if there were 30 to 40 WWFs running around, each one with their own Steve Austin, No here comes some Big Shot, offers each Steve Austin $X,XXX,XXX plus bonus. Now you have one company with 40 Steve Austin's...and then here comes Funaki, and this Big Shot pays all the Steve Austins of the world to lay down and do the 1-2-3 for Funaki. Does that mean that Funaki didn't go out there and wrestle? No. But Funaki probably didn't deserve to have all of the most over people in the world lay down for him. And that is what happened to Hogan. He beat all the greatest guys there were, and when someone goes around and beats everyone people either start chanting Goldberg, or they call them Hogan...

Now then, please tell me once more how it is that Wrestling was brought to the mainstream by Hogan, because I love to hear about how if it wern't for an overhyped, piss poor in ring performer, with mild mic skills, and some charisma guy we wouldn't have what we have now...

I don't know what else to say...but simply no. Many wrestling historians, fans and insiders alike from back then, whether they like Hogan or hate him, will admit to you that he put pro wrestling on the map. You didn't have 40 Stone Cold Steve Austins. Hell, if you want to equate them with someone back from 1999, they were like Godfathers at best. Hell, maybe Jarretts, but even that would almsot be pushing it. Then you had a guy with the charisma to bring people to the show.

Vince McMahon could've promoted the fuck out of whatever he wanted to, but if it weren't for Hogan putting asses in the seats, all that work would've meant fuck all, and Vince's WWF would've gone belly-up. Do you realize how close Vince McMahon was to folding back then? Back then, he put everything he had into pretty much one basket, and if Hulk Hogan had failed, Vince would've been fucked. Hulk Hogan wasn't some name pulled out of a hat.

Hulk showed what he had to offer in Japan and also as you mentioned, had just come off that movie filming. As much as you and some Hogan critics would like to think so, you could NOT just [insert random guy here] and have him be as big as Hogan. We've seen Savage at the top. We've seen guys beat Hogan cleanly. No one has been able to duplicate what Hogan did. For everyone since Hogan, the road's already been paved.

The only guy you could tell me could carry the WWF like Hogan did would be Ric Flair, but Flair always worked better as a heel, and apparently, the WWF decided they needed an over-the-top face for this all to work.
