Season 13/14 is where I'd say it went downhill.

Season 1 was only average, cos the focus was too much on Bart.
Season's 2 to 4 were the best, because that's when Homer was his most hilarious, with episodes like: - Mr. Lisa goes to Washington(my single favourite episode) - Colonel Homer - Brother can you spare two dimes -Last exit to Springfield (second best episode ever). When season 5 came, the show seemed to change IMO. Not necceasrily in a bad way, but it did change, mainly cos the focus drifted away from Homer somewhat. Still had some awesome episode like: - Homer's barbershop quartet (3rd favoutie epidosde) - The last temptation of Homer (4th favourite episode) - Homerpalooza. Seems after about series 9, it went downwards, and by season 11, its was total shit...I haven't even watched past season 11 really tbh |

I'd say Season 10 or 11. But the quality of those 10 seasons is enough for 20. Some people point out a relationship between the sudden declining quality and the death of phil hartman.
