Actually, it was more built than you're suggesting the McMahon swerve in 2000 should've been. McMahon was STILL screwing around with both Rock AND Austin, down to forcing them to coexist and take on the team of The Undertaker and Kane on the Raw before WrestleMania (biggest tag team match on Raw of all time, bah gawd!!!!!!!!111111111111111, at leat that night ), as well as making Austin's wife Debra Rock's manager.

Still wasn't much of a build man, thats just because Vince happened to be an authority figure and throwing his weight around on Raw. The Debra thing and that tag match would have nothign to do with them uniting, at the time or in hindsight. It was jsut because he was on an ego trip for the Shane storyline.
The entire swerve relied off of Vince and Austin's past that was 2 years old.
Just like the entire Vince/Stephanie/HHH swerve would have relied off of their past, that was 2 months old.

Actually, Debra and the tag match were both done to piss both Rock AND Austin off, and that's what it has to do with Austin and McMahon uniting.

Okay, I'll believe you if you can explain to me what pissing them BOTH off had to do with secretly favoring Austin. Please explain.

And explain to me in addition to that, how pissing off two faces and being a huge dick isn't primarily to build his egotrip fued with Shane McMahon.

Explain to me how it was. What did Shane have to do with either Austin or The Rock at that point in time?

Shane's entire fued with Vince was about him being an egotistical maniac who throws his power around and respects nobody. When pissing off Austin and Rock (both faces) just because he could, he was toying with them and throwing his power around, playing into his character at a time.

Now I humored you, and explained even though I asked you first. Now explain to me how that's wrong, and answer the first question....

What do the first and second part of that sentence have anything to do with eachother?

With McMahon acting against Austin, it made him siding with him a swerve, despite the fact that he was also acting against The Rock. Shane's feud with Vince was actually over how Vince treated Linda, who happens to be Shane's mother, if I'm not mistaken.

It was more over how Vince was acting. They were building him up as a huge egomaniac, but yea that was the fued.

And I still don't see your line of logic. I mean, him putting Debra with Rock to piss off Austin was a master plan? Not really. Sure I guess you could say it played into the swerve, but in kayfabe not really. It just makes it make less sense, and it's pretty miniscule anyways. It entirely relied off of their 1999 history, which is fine. It was good. But this was not a build. It was perhaps a red herring. But not a good one.
The swirve worked based on them having a former history of hatred.
Just like the HHH Stephanie Vince one would have.
It's really the same exact thing.
If you're gonna say him doing a minor action to piss off both parties was part of a build then that's a huge stretch to differentiate 2 things that are virtually the same. (that being the propose wm16 and wm17 swerve)

I don't see your line of logic with Vince and Shane either. The situation with Linda was what pissed Shane off. You know, in which Vince had Linda drugged up. Of course Vince being an egomaniacal asshole was MENTIONED, and it always is when he's a heel, or hell, for that matter, usually when he's a face too anymore, but that doesn't mean the feud was "about" that. Makes no sense, man.

You're reading too much into my mention of assigning Debra to manage The Rock. I never implied that that was a "master plan", merely included it as part of the build.

By your logic with the Vince and Shane thing, I guess Cena and Triple H weren't fighting over the WWE Title at WrestleMania last year. Sure, that played into it, but it was about Triple H being an egotistical asshole and calling himself the "King of Kings".
