By the time Davey was 22, he was working full time with Stampede, already was a main event star in Britain and was being booked on Japanese tours with both New Japan and All Japan. Both Japanese companies were like a who's who of wrestling stars then. Stampede had a good solid roster of stars and some of the British guys he worked are some of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. He was barely 23 when he was working 300 dates a year with the World Wrestling Federation. Harry had nowhere near the quality of places to work. And he knew he had to get good so he went wherever he could to prepare for his WWE career. If he had 4 full time companies he could work with as well as 100 British promoters then you could compare the two. But he doesn't. So you can't. Different eras. Can't hold it against guys. It's like comparing Lou Thesz with Kurt Angle. Thesz matches today would look like shit but it was a different era of working. Even today, who is to say Angle is a better worker than Mistico? It's about working a style that caters to your audience. |
