Austin should get the vote based on impact alone.
But I can't do it. I love Austin. Specifically, I love pre-neck injury Austin. Stunning Steve, even better. Post neck problems though, while he was amazing on the mic, he was lacking in the ring IMO. Yeah, he's a great brawler, but to be honest, he bored the hell out of me in the ring. I just wasn't into the style. Hell, to this day I'm not into that style, and whenever I see a wrestler who fights with that same style, I'm usually bored by it. Eddie, while he didn't have even close to the same impact (except in his death), represented everything I love about wrestling. He was great out of the ring, but in the ring, he was superb. Austin represents the the entertainment side of wrestling, as does Eddie. However, I think Eddie represents the actual art of wrestling better than Austin ever could. |

never gave my argument, but Austin by a lot here.
To me, Guerrero never entered that Greatness club with the likes of Hogan, Austin, HBK, Hart, HHH, Rock, Taker, Flair, Andre etc... These are the guys I consider the best of the best. Below this group I would put Guerrero, Benoit, Hennig, Rude, Angle, Blanchard, Steamboat etc... anyway, got off track, but Austin is arguably the greatest draw of all-time. I would argue he's not, but that's a different argument. Austin did had more of a run on top that went from 1998 into 2001 (6 time champion). No, Austin was not the only savior of wrestling in the late 90's, but he played a major role in turning atound the company. Austin and Guerrero both get points from me for climbing the ladder. Wrestling in tags, to mid card, to world title matches. As far as talking goes, it's close as they both could play and talk different roles, whether it be serious, asshole, comedy, coward etc... The whole wrestling argument I hate because it all depends on the style you like. Austin was an awesome "wrestler" when h was in WCW. He was an awesome brawler/entertainer in WWF. He put on a great show everyime he went out there. He had the crowd in the palm of his hands in WWE. Guerrero was an awesome high fyler/crusier style in WCW. In WWF, you started to see him to everything. He wrestled crusier, he wrestled technical, he wrestled heavyweight, he brawled. Great diversity. All in all, Guerrero was great, but Austin is of legendary status. He brought in a lot of that casual fan market. This may not say anything to you guys on here, but my fiancee hates wrestling. She despises it. But she knows 4 wrestlers by name. The last one I think is because she occasionally will sit and watch with me today. Those names are Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin and John Cena |

Steve Austin. In the ring, Eddie gets it (but Austin was no slouch, far from it) because he is top notch but Austin wins in every other department. Top 5 of all time.

As much as I wanted Eddie for the HOF I can't vote for him ahead of SCSA.
I loved Eddie's in-ring work. Later in his career, I loved his promo's and vignettes. He had a natural comedic side to him (remember how he used to throw the belt at his opponent and lie down pretending to have received a cheap-shot) and the live crowds naturally were drawn to him. I remember seeing him live here in Australia in a match against Angle and the two of them stole the show and had the crowd in the palms of their hands. But how can you deny Austin's rightful place in the HOF. The guy was ONE of the key elements of the attitude era. Some might say he was instrumental in starting it. He had the crowds, he delivered every time he walked out either to wrestle or in promos. He came to fore during a difficult time for the WWE in their war against WCW. It's a coin toss but 9 times out of 10 it'll come up in Austin's favour. |

Hilarious. I guess this shows how weird I am. I voted for Page over Eddie and almost Savage over Eddie, but Eddie over Austin.

Stone Cold easily here. No slight to Eddie, but I voted for Jericho over Eddie, and I would still vote for Austin over Jericho.
Aside from Flair and HBK, Austin is tops for me all around. |

Austin all the way. Eddie can't lie, cheat, or still his way out of this one.

That was one of the most mark comments I've ever heard. And I don't mean that as an insult, it was just funny.

Eddie Guerrero.
Austin was awesome back in the day, but he was never my favourite. Even in 1999 when Austin was the hottest thing in the world, I woulda chose to watch an Eddie match any day. |

Eddie.
Austin antics just left a sour taste in my mouth, from his taking his ball and going home, To stunning everyone regardless of the fact, He can't go in the ring anymore. I mean on drawing and Overness, It's Austin, he would win that hands down. Eddie on the other hand, had amazing ammount of Talent, Austin had good talent, but was nowhere near Eddie level in terms of pure skill. |

Some of this is crazy to me. Austin NOT a great worker? Eddie was levels above Austin as a wrestler? Are you kidding? Eddie Guerrero was a great wrestler, hands down, no questions asked. He was one of the best wrestlers over the last 10 years or so, without question. But Austin is one of the 5 most influential wrestlers of all time. Let's take the merchandise selling and promos out of it for a minute, the man could wrestle circles around pretty much everybody. Take a look at his matches with Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, The Rock, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Ricky Steamboat, Mick Foley, Brian Pillman, Undertaker, I could go on forever. Austin was a wrestling machine who could go with anybody and put on a good match. Look at some of his ECW work with Mikey Whipwreck and the Sandman. Look at the work he did with Vince. If it wasn't for the fact that he broke his neck, he would've probably still been on top today and in a few years we would be asking if he was the greatest of all time, not Ric Flair.

Austin was a shell of his former self after his neck injury. To put him in the same league as Eddie wrestling wise, post injury, is crazy. He was a good brawler, and could have a good match, but he wasn't putting on anything I'd consider a wrestling classic. Plus, most of Austin's later matches, honestly, all seem the same to me.

Thats not true, for example, his matches with Angle were far different than his brawls with Foley, and so on. They were both 5 or nearly 5 star matches

like I said before, it's tough debating who's had the better matches because that's all in the eye of the beholder
