I'm sorry to bump this thread. I really am. The thing is, I remember talking about Doink in the start-up thread for the Worst Themes tournament, and I thought that some people could use a good look at the legend known as Doink.

One Christmas season, Santa Claus stopped by Superstars and awarded Doink a present for being good that year in the form of Dink. I can't really pinpoint when Doink went from Matt Borne to Ray Apollo, but I really wish things would have worked out with Borne. The things that could have been....

I still think Doink could be made a legit threat. Just have him return as face and be gayass face doink for 6 months or so, get him over with kids and shit, then have him team up with a really over babyface against two heels and just have him snap and go evil-clown all over the babyface's ass and the heels too, why not.

Was gonna make a thread about Doink but figured I'd check for one first. I've spent the last hour or 2 watching all the footage of him from his TV debut playing pranks, through his first TV match up until he wrestled Bossman a few weeks after he attacked Crush, so ridiculously good. With wrestling the way it is nowadays, I doubt we'll ever see a character built so slowly and brilliantly again. I mean, it was over 2 months before they revealed a name for him and 3 months before he even wrestled on TV. Glorious. If you're one of those people that never really saw Doink/just assumed it was a shit gimmick because it's a clown in wrestling, you really should watch the vids.

I love how they would just casually show him in the crowd and pass him off as a big fan. They'd show him like ONCE in the crowd, and you wouldn't hear about him for the rest of the show. I had NO idea he'd eventually be a wrestler.

I would LOVE to see Doink (Matt Borne) and Goldust be a heel tag team together for a few matches on RAW. Matt still wrestles on the indy circut, and has been clean for awhile. I dont think PG TV would allow an evil clown's sinister pranks and The Bizarre One's quasi-sexual mind games, but we can always hope.


Side Note, I'm glad Goldust isnt doing that stupid studdering gimmick anymore and is alittle more heelish.

i met doink at an icw wrestling show in Ft Huachuca Arizona (stole a sign, and noticed they spelled wrestling wrong, spelled it wresling) anywho, i doubt it was the real doink, but it was doink none the less, the show also had the patriot and the barbarian (who was wearing his wcw shirt) i think this was back in 2000. i suppose there is no point to this story, other then meeting some type of doink, lol
