-Triple H and Shawn Michaels "reverence" to Ric Flair: Just a "random thought" (hence, the title of this thread).
Does anyone else think that during the whole "Ric Flair farewell tour" ordeal, Triple H and Shawn Michaels greatly exaagerated their love and respect for Flair (all in an effort to make Ric Flair look like a bigger star than Hulk Hogan). Call me crazy, but I think this was a large part of their motivation. Triple H and HBK hate Hogan so much, that they wanted one of "their" guy's to be made to look like a bigger legend. Aside from Hogan, I also wouldn't be surprised if this was an indirect shot at The Rock and Stone Cold (i.e. Flair is the greatest of all-time!!!!). Having said that - I *do* think that HBK and HHH respect Flair.......just nowhere the near the extent as they would lead you to believe. |

Maybe not as much as you think.
Think about it. Triple H and HBK *hate* Hulk Hogan....but why? -Was it because he was a lackluster wrestler and worker? If so, then why not hate Kevin Nash? -Was it because he was very selective as to who he jobbed to? Triple H and HBK are also extremely guilty of this. In my opinion - the *only* thing it comes down to, is that fact that HBK and HHH hate Hogan, because Hogan was the bigger legend....and bigger star. Unlike HBK, HHH, etc., Hulk Hogan became a house hold name outside of wrestling...as did The Rock (surprise surprise...HHH took a shot at The Rock during the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony). Since Hogan is household name OUTSIDE the wrestling world, guys like HBK and HHH became insanely jealous. Hence - a part of their motivation for 'over-glorifying' Flair in his retirement/farewell tour/ceremony. LETS MAKE FLAIR LOOK LIKE THE GREATEST. Let's make Flair look like a bigger star than Hogan. |

Does Triple H actually hate Hogan? I'm sure he recently called Hulk Hogan "the greatest ever" in an interview with WWE Magazine. Unless he was being sarcastic, but he dropped the WWE Title pretty quickly to Hogan in 2002.

Triple H jobbed the title to Hogan in 2002, but it may have also been a long term strategy on HHH/Vince's part (i.e. job now, prove that we're team players, have a long title run in the future). Hogan also did the JOB back to HHH.....and had to say something along the lines of, "He has no problem with shaking hands with the better man." Personally? I like Triple H (Paul Levesque) and respect the fact that he's so driven to be at the top. I can't blame the guy for anything that he's done. However - I do question his "agenda's" a lot. Remember how a half a year or so ago how Triple H was "dismissive" of Jericho (sarcastically calling him "The Savior"). Anyway - just my $0.02. |
