There was also the injuries to Charles Woodson and Al Harris, and the safeties generally struggled in pass coverage. I still have no idea how Nick Collins made the Pro Bowl. He reminds me of Darren Sharper in that he got a lot of attention for a high INT total, but unless you watch the game you have no idea just how much of a liability he is.

The offensive line definitely needs to be improved, but I'm afraid that one of the big 3 tackles won't be available by the time they pick at #9. That's where they'll probably pick up a guy like Everett to be a pure pass rusher, or just trade down and hope for the best. God knows Thompson loves stockpiling picks, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him trade down and maybe try to nab Oher or something while gaining and extra 2nd or 3rd rounder.

It was not all Fitzpatrick's fault. Palmer only played 4 games and was sacked 11 times. That's horrible.

He has started and won a few games while he was still in St Louis d-bag. He has played 5 offseasons, 5 preseasons. He is far from a rookie.

Actually, he only won 1 game in St Louis and that was as a mid game replacement. He lost the 3 games he started.

- Jordan Gross signs a long-term deal with Carolina, paving the way for Julius Peppers to get franchised.

- Nnamdi Asomugha about to sign a long-term deal with the Raiders that'll give him about $26 million guaranteed in the first two years. Asomugha's a good corner, but you'd have to figure Al Davis would realize that giving out these big guaranteed money deals isn't pretty smart after DeAngelo Hall, Javon Walker, etc.

- Colts are expected to cut Marvin Harrison sometime this offseason in a cost-cutting move.

Hanso, I stand corrected. He managed to play in 4 games during the NFL season. Good that Carolina has managed to tackle Gross. I heard rumors that Peppers will demand the trade, citing Dallas as a possible destination. I know he wants to play in a 3-4. Has he listed any other teams? I would go mad with rage if he says PIttsburgh.

Very Good point. Asomugha is the new 'shut down corner' in the league. The old guard has slowed a step. Whether it is from injury or age, you have to give Al Davis credit: his overpaying this guy is a decent move.

NFL players are such dumbasses. I will never understand for the life of me how they can constantly get caught up in court cases for the stupidest shit ever. I would live like a recluse during my career if I was in the NFL.

The average football player is young, and rich. Here's how an average NFL work day shakes out...

6:00 am -show up at team facility, work out
7:30 am - eat breakfast
8:00 am - team meeting
8:15-9:15 - position meetings
11:00 Practice
2:00pm done for day.
Sounds like a lot? it isn't. This is a schedule that football players have followed for at least 10 years, factoring in classes or some such shit. We can do this routine on auto pilot, and then...
These young men want to go out, be seen and enjoy having unlimited amounts of money and fame. This is a new event for most, because they grew up in shitty upbringings. There should be more of a training/mentor program for the younger players.

When I signed my first contract, I was pretty excited, I was nowhere near milionaire status, but I went out and did all the stupid shit associated with 'being a professional football player'. I was humble for like 3 weeks, until I got used to the time zone, altitude, and new city. Then, I was all about being in a club, or in some cheerleader's panties. There has to be some accountability on the players part, and the organization's behalf as well.

I understand and I also dont when it come to players.

I get that many players are from poor, ghetto backgrounds, and once they hit it big, they still want to stay true to their roots and go out to the same clubs etc. They should have every right to do this. But the fact is that the atmosphere in those places puts a huge target on your back.

There are guys in these clubs that will rob anyone, and when they know you are rich you are a target, hence the need for Posses and Guns. The players just want to do what they love and be protect themselves.

I get that somewhat. But I still sthink that it is the wrong idea. They need to accept that life has changed and avoid these situations.

Hanso, you're very right. I agree that young athletes should realize that they're now upperclass citizens. I totally think that the real people who drop the ball are the GM's, Owners, and front office who don't continually educate these kids about the downfalls of 'keeping it real'.

That Haynesworth contract is just ridiculously stupid. Yeah, NFL contracts aren't guaranteed so he'll probably be cut in a few years, but by that time they'll already have paid him at least $70 million ($41 million is guaranteed, and he'll make $32 million during the first 13 months of the deal). And this is for a player that could've been considered a pretty big bust before last season.
