In a foot-in-the-door kind of way, it probably helped him, yeah. But he had to completely erase his image and change his name to pull it off. Nobody was sitting in a board room saying "who should we put in a movie?" "Fuckin' Marky Mark, man, we need some good vibrations in this project!" Wahlberg had to reinvent himself to get into movies. The Rock got into movies as a capitalization on his popularity.

Cena is still the best in the business. It's impossible to have seen enough when you "can't see him" in the first place.

People can attack Cena all they want but at the end of the day, he is the biggest draw for the WWE. At the end of the day, he is the most charismatic superstar in the WWE. At the end of the day, he is the WWE's #1 guy. At the end of the day, he has the rispect of everyone in the WWE lockerroom....including your mom's.

Answer me this: what roles is the Rock going to be gunning for that anyone is going to say "we can't give this part to that guy, he was a wrestler!" As far as quality output, Hollywood is in at least as much of a downturn as wrestling. If they put Savage in a bit role in Spider-Man, who's going to hesitate to cast Johnson further up the bill? If anything is keeping him out of bigger roles, I'd guess it has more to do with the fact that he isn't fully developed as a serious wrestler.

And again, I really fell out on this side of the argument when he appeared on WWE TV and say "Hi, I'm Dwayne Johnson." "Well hi Dwayne, Im Joe Gofuckyourself."

I can name off white rappers in movies, too. I don't see Randy Savage or really, any other major wrestling names starring in huge films--obviously, that's more of a talent issue than a "they were wrestlers" thing, but without any other examples to go off, we can't really tell whether his shot at movie stardom would be impaired or not by his wrestling history. I think there might actually be quite a few more "But he was a wrestler" parts than suspected.

Plus, continuing to throw back to WWE might make him seem like he's hopelessly clinging on. As much as people bitch about Hulk's "one last match" nonsense, I'm sure the Rock might be hesitant to walk down that road. Really, it's nearly an accomplishment that he actually walked away and hasn't found himself bloatedly stumbling back into the show for one last paycheck.
