I'm a little bored right now so I thought I'd update on Fable III
8 minute interview

Some compiled info:

SPOILER: show

◦Fable III will be out in 2010 (supposedly November 1st)
◦In Fable III you start out as the son or daughter of the Fable II hero
◦Fable III will read your save file of II
◦The Dog will be returning in Fable III
◦There are extreme morphs such as Demon and Angel wings that will come out when you hit the expression
◦In Co-op you can bring your own hero and even your dog. you have separate screens and are not tied together but you have to stay in the same region.
◦Three Regions will be returning from Fable II (Bowerlake, Bowerstone & Fairfax Gardens)
◦Your weapon will morph with you depending how you use it, if you kill innocents it drips blood if you only kill enemies it will glow. It may curve depending on how you use it. Texture and colour depends on what creatures you kill.
◦Aurora has been confirmed as another continent
◦The touch system will allow you to hold hands drag people and throw your child up into the air amongst other things. It is context sensitive so when you meet someone you'll shake hands but when you get to know them better it will become a hug etc.
◦There will be more gore when you kill something if you are evil.
◦Many finishing moves have been added into the combat system
◦Fable III will have no HUD
◦Natal will be used in Fable III but it is completely optional.
◦You start out at the age of 18
◦There is no longer experience it is replaced by the number of followers you have.
◦Expressions make a return on the directional pad along with touch.
◦Your weapons will be unique to your Gamertag.
◦ Your Gamerscore effects your weapon, mostly visually.
◦ You can trade your customised weapon online and it will be named after your Gamertag. E.G. *Gamertag*s Hammer of Hobb-Killing.
◦ In Co-Op you can marry the other player.
◦ Magic has no cap and will just keep charging as long as you hold the button. You could charge your magic for hours and unleash a "Thermonuclear" like attack.
◦ Magic isn't set like it is in Fable II. In Fable III, your magic is set to items you wear (the example Peter Molynuex gave was rings). You wear the small items and each one has a magic attack.
◦ Magic can be weaved togethor. For example, weaving a fire attack and a wind attack togethor.
◦The name of the tyrant king is Logan

Source. Since that article was posted, I'm sure it has been confirmed as an XBLA thing.

Some intersting stuff. Marrying the other player is going to be something I'm sure a lot of gaming couples will do. If we can marry another player, do you think we can have kids with them? Sounds like it could be used as a 2-player fantasy based life sim.
I'm liking the whole weapon morph, magic weave thing to. Hope it's extensive.

MCV UK claims this is the leaked box art for Fable III:

It has the "stamp" on it that says "Only for Xbox 360 & Windows". So, PC version?

I keep coming back to this shot. I remember being legit fond of my Fable 2 family and being able play with my Fable 3 daughter will be cool. The idea that something could happen to them permanently will probably keep me from introducing any of you to my family. I like that this game and it's concepts make me feel that way already.

If someone online tries to abduct your child or run off with your wife, I hope we can attack them. Oherwise, a lot of people online will be kidnapping everyones family. I'm going to be very selective of who I introduce to my family. I'd trust pretty much everyone on my friend list but most likely no strangers.

The dev diary is up. We can see the game in motion briefly a few times. Looks like there is a fair bit of blood in the game. The morphs are very interesting to me.

You know someone is actually going to hold down the B button for a few hours just to see how big a specific attack gets.

They should cut to a scene like the famous F-Zero anime scene with the Falcon Punch if you pull off a thermonuclear style attack.

Infact, just make it the ending of the game.

So far, I like everything mentioned except for the tie in (Pub Games sucks) and the lack of a HUD. I like how Fable 2's HUD was set up.

This tie in wont be Pub Games so no worries there. I'm betting it's either gong to be a tie in where we play as the dog or as our Fable III hero as a really young child. PM keeps talking about how cute it is so I'm assuming it's either dogs or babies.

Fable III is at GDC. I've been keeping an eye on tweets from Lionhead staff. The first article is up. John Cleese was confirmed as being in the game as our butler:

I wonder what advances to multiplayer is coming (though we a pretty good idea what they'll improve first).

All we know about multiplayer so far is:
- We'll have our own camera and we can split up but we're stuck in the same region until we both decide to leave.
- You'll take your actual Hero with you and his dog into multiplayer along with all your weapons and items.
- You can marry the other player.
- You can see where your friends are at anytime by going to the map screen and pressing Y. Look at the above map screens, you'll see the Y button is listed as showing us friends. Peter mentions it in one of the IGN videos.

I liken Fable to Halo in the way it takes it's genres conventions, simplifies it, and heavily expands them. It's a narrow kind of game development that polarizes gamers, but it works for me.

Two videos. I'd imagine Kalyx will get a bigger kick out of the first video than most of us. "Touch" in action.

Combat, the first half is in Italian but the second half is English. We see some of the finishing moves. They look pretty cool.

I don't know if I've mentioned it already but your physical appearance will depend on the kind of weapon you use. Using a huge hammer makes you large and muscular where as something like a rapier will make you thin and gracefull, for example.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Josh Atkin, the guy in charge of combat, went back and looked at Street Fighter & Soul Calibur to see how to get fighting to feel smooth and enjoyable. Hopefully, it'll make combat much better.

You and your friend can rule Albion as king and queen. What's more, the team seems committed to ensuring the experience is in no way compromised. You'll be able to enjoy, ahem, intimate moments with your co-op friend and eventually produce offspring together. But what about absentee parents? Well, just as AI characters have relationships with the host, they'll also have relationships with the visiting player as well. If you don't spend enough time playing with the sprogs, your relationship will suffer. By contrast, if you're popping into a mate's game and he's already married, for example, you can flirt with his wife in an attempt to steal her away. Don't expect to be invited back too often, though.

While the big decisions will still be left to the host, the team plans to allow visiting players to make judgements as well, and any gold, items or followers that are accumulated in someone else's game can be brought back into your own. Players can even become business partners and pool their money to, for example, pay for property that is too expensive for either to afford on their own.

I was just thinking of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series adapting action game elements on top of an RPG structure. And the co-op sounds ridiculous, now I gotta worry about dudes stealing my wife as well as killing her. Awesome... for some reason. The prospect of marrying other player's avatars is interesting but being that we're most likely gonna create guys I'll pass. No Prop 8 in Albion.
